Recently i have been thinking about starting a word bearers army and adding some space wolf parts to some of the models, what do you guys think

I dont see anything wrong with it from a gaming point of view but perhaps a fluff point of view would be different.

Iirc Chaos are just Marines but affected by some Daemon God, so using Space Wolf bits should fit, aslong as you make it look Chaos-y. I myself will be doing a Space Wolf to Chaos conversion for a terminator squad.

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

Haha, its not so much that they scream Chaos, but more for a modelling thing. The term squad i want will have 2 pairs of lightning claws and was advised by a fellow gamer to get the space wolves pack and use gs to make it more demonic.

go check out some of the 13th Company conversions from the old Eye of Terror codex. Those were really awesome and it came before the current SW-dedicated sprues.

So are you wanting them to be Space Wolves who have joined the Word Bearers? Chaos Marines who've repaired their armor with Space Wolves plate? you're kind of vague on what you want us to answer . Although I hate to admit it Chaos Space Wolves is a possibility, heck even Chaos Space Wolf Word Bearers is a possibility.

in the chaos codex it says their is a warband of chaos space wolves. also Huron Blackheart stole a space wolf ship and loads of space wolves turned chaos then.

If you paint the armor in the color of the Word bearers then they would have a more chaos feel to it. the 13th company conversions in the book only looks SW because of the paintjob (they have much more chaos parts than SW parts, whichwere almost non-existant back then).

And yes, the Red Corsairs does have a few SW in them. However in the old codex they just simply had a kitbash with the SW painted in normal colors with red crosses on them.

Basically what i want is chaotic space wolves as in wolf parts made to look more chaotic, is that any less vague?

I think I get it. you wanna use the parts that come on the SW sprues to save some time and money in hunting around for chaos-equivallents right?

If that's the case, just file down the majority of the Wolf symbols (but not the runes and other fun stuff) and glue on a few skulls and perhaps carve the chaos star into them. if you have experience with GS, sculpt on some arrows and that should make them Chaos-y

Ok so you're not actually having Space Wolves who turned to Chaos you just want to use the parts right?

I'd go for Skyrar's Dark Wolves if I were you, close combat space wolf-esque chaos warband. Pretty decent colour scheme too.

Yep, but the idea of renegade space wolves has been there, nagging me,

Just get the SW codex, use the SW models. but paint them in the Chaos colours of your choice.

I woudl thin taht, with their ferocious attitude, the SW woudl be most likely marines to turn chaos.

Sounds good. Some of the SW bits would work well for chaos bits. As for chaos deomesque claws try this

Cut off the fingers of the power fist at the last knuckle then shaved some gaunt talons and attached. Inspired by the pic in the middle of the SW codex with them attacking the Tau

LOL, thanks. Funny thing is I'm selling my space marine army since I never play them.

I noticed you posted a few other topics on the space wolves, as for making a wolf lord stand out, using claws like I have above would work. IMO anything up and beyond what the normal wolf lord may have (i.e. the cloak, wolf skulls, iconography) may be too much on the model and detract from it a bit. Personally I am modeling a Word Bearers Anointed force using chaos bits but the Space Wolves codex. Actually works out real well to. Im gonna be posting pics of them here in a bit. As for thunderwolves there are 1 or 2 companies out there that make some wolves. Heres a link to a website that has some conversions and what models they used
