Quickie about planetstrike (which I bought at the weekend and am HOOKED already!)

The attacker can deep strike with any of his infantry units (and others which I can't remember off the top of my head).

Models which have the deep strike special rule in their profile can assault the turn they land. What if I put a tactical squad in a drop pod? Would this give them the "deep strike" special rule and allow them to assault the turn they land?

No. If you look at the Tac Squad special rules, "Deep strike" isnt there. While they have arrived via deep strike, they do not have the deep strike rule

They also did not deep strike themselves, otherwise they would be taking all sorts of dangerous terrain tests.

Further, the drop pod specific rule that prevents a unit from assaulting the turn it disembarks is more specific than the general ammendement to allow units with the DS rule to assault on the turn they DS.
