So, I am fairly new to the WHFB but decided to pick up Ogre kingdom... My original 3000 point list ran 6 characters (2 lords 4 heros) but I soon found out from my friend that would not fly as you can only spend 1/4 your points on your characters.... This means I can only use a measly 750 points on my Tyrant, Slaughtermaster, BSB, Hunter, Brusier and Butcher... obviously this will not work as together those cost over 750....

What have other Ogre Kingdom payers been doing to adjust to this rule? Normally, we stock up on characters to beef up our squads, but now we cannot.

I have to admit, I miss the old Infantry battles of 4E compared to this 5E wonderland of APCs/IFVs everywhere. It's like we jumped from WWI to WWII.

You get 750 for lords and 750 for heroes.

Page 135 of the small rulebook under the Choosing Your Army section. And yes it's correct I play Ogres too. I encourage you to come check out The Ogre Stronghold, the best single army community in all of Warhammer.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Well, the Ogre Stronghold is the biggest and oldest Ogre website on the web. i am sure this is what he meant.

For ogres, at the points you indicate, the best Characters to have is a Tyrant, Slaughtermaster, and BSB. these are all but mandatory to have. the next thing to get is a Butcher. after that you can get 1 or 2 fighty Bruisers to beef up your squads with. my reccomendation is mawseeker on all of them. then a ward save if you can get one.

Ward saves are very good to have and ogres can get more then ever now. Talisman of Preservation on your Tyrant, Talisman of Endurance on your BSB, Wyrdstone on a fighty bruiser.

the Tricksters helm is good on a BSB as, combined with mawseeker, it makes your BSB almost indestructable against Str3 to Str5 attacks(which are 90% of the threat in WHFB)

Tyrants are good with Talisman of Preservation, Greyback pelt, Enchanted Shield, HA, and a Cathayen Long Sword. 3+ armor, 4+ ward, -1 to be Hit in CC, and WS7 and I5. can carve up most enemies pretty nastily.

for butchers and SMs, Gruts sickle and the Blood cleaver are excellent choices. Dispell scrolls are nice to have around too.
