Before deployment of any units or right before deployment of wizard?

I believe its before any units are deployed, yours or your opponents

i believe that it is after deployment, but i may be wrong

The BRB says you generate the spells before you deploy your wizards. There's nothing about generating before deploying other forces however

The book does say before the wizard is deployed which in most cases would be after your whole army is out.

So you basically get to pick when you roll for spells, anytime before the wizard is put out.

Yeh pretty much. Whether you talk with you opponent and both do it before the deploying your army or you do it as you mages go out, it's up to you.

To me, common sense would say before deployment. I can't see deployment being held up right before character placement to roll up spells.

Except it clearly says before deployment of your wizards. So you COULD read it that way, but it wouldnt be a strict or accurate one

You'd be an idiot to wait until you deploy you wizards to roll for spells though, as often the spells you get will affect your deployment. My guess would be they have left the timing loose to NOT penalise you (somehow) if you dont roll for spells before deploying anything.

Fair enough. Given that I don't have any wizards, and all my opponents have always rolled before dropping anything, I haven't given it too much close inspection.
