I'm not an experienced player, but we're doing kill teams instead of our regular league at my store next month. I've been slowly putting together a Tau army, and really want to participate in the kill teams. This is what I had in mind, but I'm open to suggestions:

3x Stealth Suits, each with a targeting array and a burst cannon at 120 pts.
11x Kroot, as they come with nothing but their kroot rifles at 77 pts.

This is a 100% infiltrating army, so in a perfect world I get to place second (and somewhere in the 12" to 18" range away from my opponent's forces), but shoot first. The kroot each have two Str 4/AP 6 shots within 12" that hit on 4s, and if they assault they can each get in three WS 4/Str 4 hits (granted, at a reasonably weak initiative), whereas the stealth suits can stand behind the kroot, shooting through friendly units, benefitting from 3+ cover saves (counting their stealth bonus), each taking three Str 5/AP 5 shots within 18" that hit on 3s. So, I just do an infiltrating line of kroot with a few infiltrating stealth suits behind it.

Does this seem effective? Would the all stealth suit team be better? I just worry about having so few models in an environment where losing half of them quite possibly just loses me the game. And are the targeting arrays worth it? Is four suits hitting on 3s better than three hitting on 4s, given that each takes three shots? Should I have a fusion blaster in here somewhere in case I come up against a vehicle of some description?

First off, how many points are you playing?

Second your army has absolutely NO anti vehicle. If you come up against anything with over AV 11 (which is pretty much everything) you can't even physically scratch it.

I'm sorry. It's kill teams, so 200 pts. Yeah, I realize I have no anti-vehicle, which is why I was asking if one of my suits should have a fusion blaster? Are there many vehicles that I should be worrying about in a 200 pt. format with no access to heavy support units?

Yeah, you should probably get a fusion blaster. Since each model is its own unit, it doesn't detract from the fire of the other stealth suits. I think this is a good list I think. Orks would reck you I think, but beyond that, I think it would do well.

Yeah, there aren't really any vehicles you would ever worry about. The most I ever went against in Kill Teams is a Ork Kan.

Whichever they are, I'm not on the Reich ones, clearly.

Don't use kroot. They will die too easily unless in cover. Maybe getting 2 suits in with jsj could work well. 110 points is good enough to get 2 suits with some cheap weapons. Not sure what i dont have my codex here but its enough. You don't need drones. Stealth are very weak. One round of firing will get them. Personally i'd use different, more resilient units but i suggest you try different lists.
