Hey Dakkalites,
Put up an unboxing video on my blog for the Relthozans from Firestorm Armada.
It kind of turns into a mini review, but if you're curious at to what all comes in the fleet boxes it's a good reference.
If you take a look, let me know what you think

All of Spartan games fleet boxes come with exactly the same thing, a Battleship, 3 Crusiers and 6 Frigattes, and they are all balanced within 30 points of one another.... Its not like what you get is any big suprise....

I disagree, always worth a peek at the level of detail, quality of moulds and the idea of the value for money.
It was well worth watching, I was interested in the mix of metal to resin and in the detail on the miniatures.
I was impressed, given that the paint jobs on this range have actively dissuaded me in the past.

You are correct as far as the box load out, but what I was going for how the ships themselves hold up. I.e. Level of detail? How much cleanup? Probable ease of assembly? etc.
Also, since I didn't bother to really read the box before I bought it, I didn't know that the counter sheets were included. That was a bit of a nice surprise for me anyway.
If I made it sound like there was something inherently different about the boxes, that wasn't my intent

Thank you. That's exactly what I was going for. Especially if someone is new and considering getting into Firestorm, they might be a little intimidated since you can't see the models from the outside of the box.

Nice review, I appreciated it.
I do suggest filiming the review in two stages with a second stage showing token assembled ships orv even the entire assembled force.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

And, don't forget that the casting process for some of the earlier fleets is changing (that is, some ships that were two pieces will be one, etc). If you don't mind my asking, what paint jobs have you seen that turn you off to the Relthoza? I've seen some very nice ships come up on the official Spartan forums if you need some inspiration .

I've basically abandoned my BFG Space Marine fleet, for the Dindrenzi and Terran factions. Most of my models have been the newer ones, and the level of detail and finish is really second to none.
I did however, buy a Dindrenzi battle ship and it was one of the older models...I gotta say, it was shockingly bad. To be fair on Spartan Games, if you do end up buying one of their older badly formed ships, they will replace it....however, given they come in see through blisters, I'm more upset with the online vendor I bought from then Spartan, they should have seen that it was one of the badly cast ships and never have sent it...that and their poor shipping times made the whole thing a very bad experience....

Totally not impressed by those ships.
Delephont, why did you abandon your Marine fleet?

Spartan just remastered all of their molds, it has improved quality greatly across the board. They still cast things in odd ways though, and the Relthoza fleet is the biggest offender IMO.

BFG was my last handle on the WH40K Universe. To be fair, I was already looking at alternative space fleet games, and Firestorm Armarda, for me, is the best right now. Hence the reason why the Space Marines have been retired.
The models are a matter of personal taste. I guess if you like the Gothic style of GW space craft, then the FA ships may seem a little simplistic. I like the style of the FA ships, they are more in keeping of my idea of what future space craft could look like, and they really nod their hats in the direction of our favorite space operas, Star Wars, Battle Star Galactica, and Babylon 5, etc.
One of the other winning formulas for the game, you can create your own fleet ships, the rules support this, and so does Spartan Games.
