Subject: Tyrannofex - How did they do this?

I'm referring to this model:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pro-Converted-Tyranid-TYRANNOFEX-/220688677595?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item336211fadb
This is probably my favorite conversion of all Tyrannofex's I have seen and I have scoured the forums for one... It looks very tank-ish and tough while carrying a huge "cannon" weapon around. I love that model!
Any idea on what models, parts, how they did this? What feet/ hands are those? How did they make the body so bulky and "buff" like that? What weapon is that from which model? etc etc. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Did you ever think of posting a question on the ebay listing to the current owner?
If they made it themselves they might be able to help you out?

Those arms are crushing claws from the carnifex kit.
Looks like the whole thing is based on a carni, I am not sure about the gun...

the gun looks like 4 barbed stranglers attached to the chest of the carnifex.
I might try that idea

I love how that auction says "pro-painted," then charges a little over 100 bucks for an easily reproduced conversion.
Anyways, yeah. It's a few barbed stranglers glued together, they added another set of stacks on top, and bulked up his front half with GS. Nothing to it.
EDIT: Just noticed that it's also listed under Space Marines.

Just to clarify: It says "Pro-converted".
The seller does not claim it is "pro-painted", and states that it comes as pictured.

Pro converted, well painted. But almost the same outcome lol. Its a pretty neat idea though, and definitely looks tough, and that gun would be hard to argue that it was the super snot cannon thing that the tyrannofex has. God I need to read my wifes codex more often, its hard to remember that stuff
We have a 3rd or 4th edition tyrant (you know the one that smiles? and is REALLY skinny at the waist) that we will use to convert into a Tyrannofex

I hate how people insist on putting these conversions (along with Tervigons) on the 60mm round bases.

What base should I use for Tyrannofex and Tervigon? o_O
I was under the impression that it was a 60mm but I'd like to be corrected before I actually build it and put it on a wrong base.

Most people go for the large oval trygon base. but there's no official stance since there's no official kit.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

You're right, my mistake. But it does say it's well painted.

There is nothing official about what base anything in WH40K should be on (besides bikes maybe?). I sure get the impression that the Tyranid models with six wounds should definitely be on the large oval. Even the conversions I've seen featured by GW, have been on the large oval.

I think he has taken a Carnifex body, sculpt an extra set of ventral spiracle horns (the funnels on top) behind the head -- these could have been cut off another Carnifex.
He has extended the rear end of the carapace with an extra plate and single horn. This could have been assembled from a sawn-up Carnifex.
He has moved the head back into the body a bit, probably by sawing down the neck.
The gun is two Venom Cannons (?) one glued upside down on top of the other.
The front limbs are obviously Crushing Claws out of the Carnifex kit, extended a bit with putty.
He’s done a good job. Not to take away from his vision and skills... Tyranids are relatively easy to convert with a saw and blobs of putty, because their alien, organic shape covers up a lot of imperfection in sculpting work. A good paint job will do the rest.
My one criticism is that the Tyranofex is the largest MC in the army and should probably be converted from a Trygon. However, there have been heaps of cheap Carnifexes on eBay this year, because the new codex nerfed them, so it is a good model on which to base any converted MC.
