1750 pts
Sanguinor
Libby w/Jump pack
Unleash Rage
Fear of the Darkness
2 X Sang Priests w/ JP and power weapons
Furioso Dread w/Blood Talons
Drop Pod w/locator Beacon
Assault Sqd (10)
2 X Melta
inf pis+ PF
Assault Sqd (10)
2 X Melta
inf pis + PF
Assault Sqd (10)
2 X Melta
inf pis + PW
Devastators (5)
4 X ML
Devastators (5)
4 X ML
Goal is to maximize FNP Bubbles + Sanguinor Bubble. Devastors start on board in cover with Dread dropping on turn 1. Rest of army is in DS and comes on using DOA or locator beacon. I used VV at 2000 and liked them, but cant seem to fit them in. I didnt use the dread either and had another squad of marines, but am thinking that it would be useful to drop in with the locator beacon.
THoughts?

Looks good. Really about what you'd expect for a DoA list, except for the Devastators. Ordinarily, I'd be worried that they'd die really quick, having no ablative wound Marines, and packing so many Launchers, but I suppose that most opponents will be so worried about all those things dropping into their midst, they they'll leave the Devs unmolested.

Priests are one wound IC with no invulnerability save, which also give an amazing buff to your units. When whatever they are attached to gets into CC they are going to be the first model killed. Its usually pointless to give them Power Weapons or weapon upgrades.
Deeepstriking an army only works if you can deepstrike the enitre force. Here is alittle break down of whats going to happen during the first several turns.
If your going first:
You deploy your devastators, your opponant deploys accordingly. On the first turn of game play you Pod in your dreadnought, as it has no ranged weapons it moves. Your devastators fire at two different things. Now your opponant goes, he consentrates 1750 points of firepower on your 3 squads, its possible that he can remove all three of tour units on his first shooting phase. On turn two you start getting your Assult squads dropping in.
If this was my list, I would run 6 identicle assult squads then use the rest of the points to buy priests and librarians.

Well, I think Mercer has some experience with this kind of mixed army of jump packers and Devastators.
I suggest to look into his battle reports.

While jump packs and Devastators do work, Drop Pods in singles do not :( Apart from the lone Pod and Sanguinor everything else is fine

Jump Packs and Devastators work, but do they work as a DoA force?

Not as a DoA force for reasons already mentioned, I didn't realise was using as DoA until I read the bottom part. Though the person I play against does not use a DoA tactic. Having this army as DoA is very bad idea :( Best foot slog them with plenty of Priests giving target saturation and drop that Dreadnought or have it on foot, two of them actually as Librarian Dreadnoughts with wings to keep up, use the Dreadnoughts as cover pop smoke on the Dreadnoughts or cast the shield power for 5+ cover save.

Thanks for the feedback. So I'm dropping the pod and the Sanguinor, and adding a Libby dread with with Shield and Wings.
That leaves about 250 pts for another squad of assualt marines, does that work?
List would be
Libby HQ w/jp
2 priests w/jp
Libby Dread (wings + shield)
4 Assault Sqds
2 X 5 man devastor sqds with 4 ML each
I have tried jp slogging with all the priest bubbles and it worked pretty well, the DoA drops worked sometimes but not enough, so I like the idea of changing my tactics as that has worked best in my games anyway.
Other potential units I could add are speeders, DC, flesh out the devastoators, or tactical sqd w/rhino. Thanks.

Another Librarian Dreadnought. Something like this if you can:
Librarian - jump pack, shield of sanguinus & unleash rage
Honour Guard - jump packs, 2 x infernus pistols, 3 x power weapons & 1 x thunder hammer
2 x Sanguinary Priests - jump packs
Furioso Librarian Dreadnought - wings of sanguinus & shield of sanguinus
Furioso Librarian Dreadnought - wings of sanguinus & shield of sanguinus/maybe blood lance
10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltguns
10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltguns
10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltguns
10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltguns
5 x Devastators - 4 x missile launchers
5 x Devastators - 4 x missile launchers
Though I have a feeling that maybe over 1,750. Check it out.

Yea, that's way over 1750. Just adding the HG puts me over, and I didnt add the 4th Assault sqd.
Do you think it is unwise to have the sgts in the assault sqds with PF and inf pistols?

Inferno Pistols have never worked for me in the way i would expect, i would just give the sgt's PF and be done with that.

Ok ditch the 4th Assault Squad as you don't need massively. Lose the Honour Guard then after.
I've used inferus pistols and they're alright, best used against light armour because S8 AP1 still hurts and your normal meltagun will be in range. Fists are ok, can smash the vehicle after in assault if you fail to blast it - can add up though.

Hmm. The only thing I dislike about the flying Librarian Dreadnoughts is that they're the only armor you have, and even with SoS, I'd be surprised if they made it into combat all that regularly.

That is indeed a massive problem. But they have smoke launchers too And at least can move the same speed as the other infantry, providing the power goes off. Personaly it's not a unit I'd take as you're hoping the dice work and you can fly off and make the save.

Well it went horribly bad last night vs. CSM with 2 DP, 4 sqds CSM in rhinos, 4 Oblits, predator.
I setup perfect and was set to go first and lost the initiative. It went down hill with me losing a round of fire and not killing anything on my turn. Then the DP were in my lines and beating up the Libby Dreads. The SoS worked great and protected my dreads and speeders on, but without killing anything on my turn it was down hill fast. All the priests died in the first assualts and with the DP engaged I couldnt shoot at them with the ML.
I need more tweaking I guess or a better plan.

lol that's the same Chaos list as mine except I've got a Greater Daemon, Chosen and Vindicator.
The list is fine, you need better planning - where did you fire those mass missile launchers at? What mission and deployment did you play?
