why dont more people vote on images? i try and vote on 5 or more a day. i guess it really doesnt matter if you do or dont. but by my calculations 1 in 60 people vote on images here at dakka dakka. people should vote more on here, i think it helps artists understand their own work better and make improvements, and everyone,no matter how great of a painter they are, would like to improve.
also to all who do vote. thank you and be kind to others as if you would like them to be kind to you.
Happy Halloween.

Many thanks for voting. The biggest problem is that the number of new images per day (close to 300) is more than the number of votes required on that many images (1500). I am completely blank in ways to encourage more/better voting. I need to think up ways to make it feel like less of a chore and more of a fun experience so any suggestions are welcome. Voting is much, much better/fun than it used to be thanks to tweaks but still has a way to go. Some users of course will never have an interest in voting as they are here for other bits of the site, but more participation would indeed be nice.

The only real reward for doing it is the occasional cool thing popping up. Doesn't really need anything else, also I don't think there is really anything that can be done about it.

Recurrent topic and like lego said... no really good answers have been found yet. Complicating factor is that there are no solid rules for voting so the results you get are very subjective. In general... I've found it's far better to open up a blog if your'e interested in useful feedback. That's a lot of work though & not everyone has the time to maintain or even follow a blog for all the good work out there.

Best "trick" I know to get votes is to have your item pop up on the Gallery front page but God only knows how that happens... magic I guess? dumb luck?

You can also find people who's skills and opinions you respect and ask them to comment on your work. I've done this (both sides) and I usually get great advice on improving my work... far better than a rather arbitrary numerical score would provide. (arbitrary because I don't know the standards of the voter, so the information I actually get from the vote is not so useful).
