Kroot x20

ELITES:

Crisis x1, Plasma, Missiles, Shield, MT

FAST:
Pathfinders x6, Fish

HEAVY:
Railhead
Broadsides x3

POINT LIMIT: 1500
MISSION: Capture and Control
DEPLOYMENT: Spear Head
ROLL OFF: He won and gave me first turn (Huge mistake because he didnt examine the board very well.)
DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD:
Sector 1(Upper Left):
A silo and several craters in the middle.
Sector 2(Lower Left):
Nothing but a few craters.
Sector 3(Upper Middle):
A hill.
Sector 4(Lower Middle):
Large section of Ruins.
Sector 5(Upper Right):
Medium sized section of Ruins.
Sector 6(Lower Right):
2 Bunkers that BLOS sat in the lower corner.

I quickly took Sector 5, forcing him to take Sector 2 (a.k.a dead mans land)

DEPLOYMENT:
I twiddle my thumbs after declaring that all units will deep strike. He deploys firmly in the corner in Sector 2 in layers. Broads were in the back, then Suits, then Kroot. He held both units of FW's and the railhead in reserve. The Pathfinders scouted towards my objective in Sector 5.

TURN 1:
BA: I twiddle my thumbs again and say "ummmmm. . .you're up."

TAU:
He's moves his pathfinders closer and deploys them for some reason. The rest stand still.

TURN 2:
BA: Dante, Guard, 2 Priests, and two units of Assaulters drop in. I combat squad both Assault squads. Dante lands in Sector 3 next to the pathfinders and fish. The other two units drop into Sector 2 to get the battle going. I kill some kroot with pistols and what not. Dante's unit blows the fish up.

TAU:
One unit of FW's and the Railhead arrive from reserve. The FW's deploy into Sector 4. The railhead went into Sector 6. His shooting phase begins and I lose an SG to submunitions from the railhead. A few more marines in Sector 2 die from combined plasma, pulse, and rail fire. His Kroot charge my marines and in the resultant melee I manage to route one unit and sweep the other. He made an unhappy tau face. . .

TURN 3:
BA: My last unit comes in from reserve and I drop them into Sector 6 right beside the Railhead. I dont combat squad this unit. Dante and co. jump towards Pathfinders. In Sector 2 my boys hop right up to all of his battle suits. The unit is Sector 6 blows the cannon off of the Railhead and shakes it. Down in Sector 2 some shooting happens, not much to say about it.
Dante and co. charge the Pathfinders and slaughter them mercilessly. I multi charge the crap out of his Shas'o, a battle suit, the routed kroot, and his broadsides. By the end his Shas'O is dead, the entire unit of Broadsides were dead, and the Kroot were gone. I lost a meager 2 in the fighting.

TAU:
He runs away. . . and his other reserved unit of FW's comes into Sector 6.

TURN 4:
BA: I move around a bit, all Suits are in multi charge range. I blast his fish in Sector 6. Kill all of his suits in assault.

TAU: He quits.

Things that I noticed:
He deployed like crap. Combat Squading saved my butt.

It was probably a mistake for him to have charged his Kroot in like that.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah, he should have rapid fired along with the rest of his army just on the off chance that a few more Marines would've fallen. And, by charging me, he opened a massive gaping hole in his army so that I could get in there and rip his suits to pieces. Terrible deployment.

The epitome of an out-dated codex against a new codex. Although his deployment was rubbish admittedly.
Also good work on the general description it wasn't to long and i could follow it easily.

He had major list problems, he didn't need broadsides, nor the 10fw's, or the 3rd df, he needed more suits, 6fw in each df, 1 more hammerhead, kroot split into 4 10 man squads. And yes he shouldn't have charged his kroot, kroot walls for blocking purposes is where it's at. Plus where are his shield drones or his cib/afp weapon. Going up against that Blood Angel list he needed more shots and leave the pathfinders home unless your 1750 points or up. Great report!!

Probably? That's like absolutly a no no

@Tauownz: While I agree with you not everyone is able to change their army list to better fight each individual opponent.

@Grim smasha: How experienced was this Tau player? Besides that good battle report

Its kinda sad that, finding out its BA vs Tau, I knew beforehand that the Tau were gonna get tabled without even reading the batrep.

He seemed of moderate to high experience, just now with Tau. He was battle testing the list for a possible future army build. It sucks getting tabled, I don't think he's going to be making this one.

His build looks very very weak. Combined with facing assault troops tau had no chance from the beginning.
