I was just wondering, is Mephiston able to Deep Strike, as he does have the Wings of Sanguinius power? If not, would it work as a house rule that if he took a psychic test before the game, he could deep strike?

I don't think you could pull this off with the power, but isn't mephiston infantry? Some BA players can help me out with this, but id speculate you could buy a drop pod for him?

As for the house rule, you can but ask. Id be ok with it, others might not.

No, he cannot deep strike. While he might have the power, it would have to be active and he cannot cast it until he's on the table, right? And he has no transport options so cannot have a drop pod. Only way you could do it is put him in a Land Raider or Storm Raven and deep strike it in.

Deep striking mephiston in a land raider - that surely has to be pushing 600 points?

The problem with allowing Mephiston to use his psychic power to get deployed using Deep Strike is that he would have to use his psychic power not just before the first turn, he'd have to use it before deployment. At that point, you need to break out the word processor and crank out a page or two of house rules detailing what the limitations for doing things during deployment are, who gets to do what, in what order, how the anti-psycher abilities work for that, etc., etc., etc., etc.

For example: Let's say that you let Mephiston do that and he deep struck within range of a psychic hood. The opposing player gets a successful counter roll. Shouldn't the psychic power be nullified and something horrible happen to Mephiston?

Or, in other words: The rules don't let you do that. If you're going to rewrite the rules so that you can, there are implications that you need to consider.

BA can only buy a LR as a dedicated so no LR strike for Meph. You can't start in a dedicated transport if it isn't yours. A stormraven on the otherhand can be used instead.

RAW no he may not.

Of course you can house rule anything that you want as long as your opponent agrees. I would say if you house rule it, there should be the catch that if he fails his test he just falls to his death. Sounds fun to me.

Also, yea, if you allowed Meph, you would have to allow Librarians without jetpacks with Wings of Sanguinius, and Librarian Dreadnoughts without drop-pods with Wings as well.

It's a slippery slope, and can give off a win-at-all-costs vibe. There's a reason GW didn't extend Descent of Angels/free jumppacks to everything in the game. It's about the same as people who say Landraiders can deepstrike with Descent of Angels.

I like the idea of him being lofting down from the heavens on his psychic construct wings. Then, hundreds of feet above the air his presence is felt by an enemy psyker, who unlaces the warp around the wing of sanguinius. Cue Wiley E Coyote style drop into the ground with a Mephiston shaped hole.
