Hey!

I'm jumping back into 40k after a 6 year hiatus. I used to have a fetish for guns and have played both shooty IG and Tau armies. I want something completely different especially since HTH always scared the hell out of me. I've been creeping the boards and this is what I've come up with. This may not be 100% what I have but I'm running from memory, I think it's right though.

1500 CSM

HQ
Kharn

Elite
5 Termies
5 combi-weapons (multi)
4 lightning claws
1 chainfist

Troops
8 Zerkers, Skull Champ w/ powerfist

8 Zerkers, Skull Champ w/ powerfist
Rhino w/ havoc launcher

10 CSM, IoK, 2 meltas
Rhino w/ havoc launcher

Heavy
Landraider

Vindicator


The idea is simple, Kharn and 1 squad of zerkers lead the charge along a flank with the vindicator support. Rhinos follow in behind for cover. CSM support the assault or will be used to hold objectives. The terminators will deepstrike to either Kharn or the CSM. I understand antitank is a real weakness and 1st turn could make or break the game for me, hoping if . I played with the idea of using either suicide termies or small bike squads with meltas to hunt tanks (I bought cheap bikes on ebay before I realized their limited use). I put the havoc launchers on the rhinos to help with my shootyness but am thinking a switch for armour or DP might be safer.

Any advice appreciated!

I like your list, but i don't know how well it will perform on the table.....

Deepstriking Terminators, i think are best left for shooting, take the LC off, you could/should leave the chainfist in a unit of 5, so if they do survive, they can go kill a tank...but i don't know if 5 combi weapons (and by multi, do you mean a mix? that is a very very bad idea....either have all plasma or all melta, you could use flamers, but i think Zerkers are best anti-infantry....)

I also personally don't like the lone Land Raider and Vindicator, i would try and double up with one of them...

How many games have you played with this? If your a good enough plater/playing not very good people, then it could work very well

Sorry I meant meltas on the Termies... I haven't played any games with this yet.

I agree I probably need another tank for this to work, that would mean probably dropping the termies altogether as they are way pricey, close to 300 pts I think. Probably replace them with a LR and some upgrades?

Kharn and a squad of 8 coming out of the raider will do fine.

Would like to see another landraider for the other bezerker squad but the points of course are a pain.

I like the list as is but hate putting zerkers in rhinos - minimal protection and then you still have to stand out there one turn and take your opponent's fire.

I would suggest dropping the Terminators, as you have plenty of assaulty-ness w/ the two squads of Berzerkers. That means you can then have a second CLR to transport the other squad of Berzerkers. I would also suggest dropping the Vindicator & trying to squeeze in @ least two Obliterators. You could probably do that by ditching the Havoc Launchers on your Rhino's.
