Hi folks,
Just thought I'd get the experiences of everyone here with respect to discount internet retailers:
Due to GW Oz's crazy prices, and the currently very strong $AU, shiny man toys from internet retailers cost ~50-60% of their retail price here. This is a good thing! What is a bad thing, is that all of the internet shops I've dealt with so far seem to have very low stock on hand and need to order in everything you order. This unfortunately massively blows out the delivery times of above mentioned shiny man toys.
Of all of the reputable internet retailers, which have fellow Dakka members found to have the best times in terms of shipping?

The Warstore has fast processing times for orders. They are in the US (as am I) so I haven't used them for an international order but they typically ship via UPS and get things to you as fast as possible.

Depending how the AUS-GBP conversions work out for you, try www.darksphere.co.uk, placed an order from them last month, had it in 3 days (ordered over a weekend, and I live on an island, I was greatly impressed), they're FAQ says delivery to rest of the world is 5-7 working days, which isn't bad for the otherside of the world i'd say!

Warstore in the US has always been great for me. I played a huge DE pre-order with them. It shipped Monday, I should have in my grubby mitts by this coming Monday.

MiniatureMarket here in the US keeps a HUGE supply of 40K in their warehouse and a huge supply (for a store) in their actual storefront.
They ship fast and accurately.

Not sure which one has the best delivery times, well, I'd say Amazon by far but they are not selling Warhammer stuff, but I can tell you one with a very slow shipping.
I placed an order at Wayland Games on monday (2 days ago) and my order is still "in process".
All the stuff in my order were "in stock".
I guess it's gonna be really well packed!

Thanks for the input thus far guys.
Its not so much the actual postage times as thats obviously uncontrollable at their end, its just the time between placing the order and it leaving the retailer.
Most of them seem to keep very little stock on hand, as they are operating at pretty low margins it would make sense. Its just a bit of an annoyance when your order is sitting as "processing" for 2+ weeks. (but muuuuuum I want it nnooooooooooow).
Warstore seems to have the popular vote so far, Ill give them a go next time.

I ordered from them and then realized that they specify a 2-4 week delivery time...

I absolutely despise MWG...used them once and received my completely botched order a month and a half later...
I've used Bitzbarn on occasion with mixed results. they let you mix and match sprues and such and their prices are good. Stuff i get from them usually takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive though, that and the guy who runs the site types in pretty broken english, so customer service is a hassle.

My order is still in process...damn they are slow.
It's my first order on this website and I think I'm gonna go back to Maelstrom for my next orders.
I've never waited that long with Maelstrom for my items to be packaged and shipped.
I wish all online stores would be like Amazon and only charges your credit card when the order is shipped.

This is happening me - I ordered stuff. It's 'in process' and now its 'waiting for stock'. I emailed them and was told they are waiting on a delivery. However everything I ordered was in stock. It's a bit irritating and next time I will use someone else who **actually** have things in stock.

I would suggest that GW UK or US may be your best bet if you are focused on getting your items ASAP. No stock issues, free shipping over £10 and still [I would guess] 20-30% cheaper than GW OZ retail.
Having said that I'm not sure that they will allosw you to order from GW UK when there is a OZ option, so best to check?

+1 for the GW direct recommendation if you're in a hurry, they'll never have to order in any stock and, as long as the UK posties aren't on strike as usual, they usually have pretty fast delivery.
I've also used Darksphere a lot with success and they've just moved to new premises so they might be able to hold more stock now.

Personally, I'd rather wait the extra time for the discount than pay those inflated prices.
I know. I know. Not everyone sees them as "inflated." I'm not going to argue the point, though. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.
You see, I'm an American. We're entitled to everything. ; )

I always use Maelstrom, even though their last delivery to me was 2 weeks in processing. Yeah it can be slow, but I live on the other side of the world so the free postage is a big thing for me. And thought they can be slow, they haven't (yet) messed up any orders I've placed with them, and they respond pretty fast to my emails.

I placed an order with Maelstrom and they sent me half of it, with the other half still 'Dispatched'
Though, when my paint set arrived, the Matt Varnish was spilled and 2 paint pots were missing.
I have contacted them and asked them to rectify this and a week has passed with no answer.

Eeps - If you cannot find it cheaper anywhere else, then Maelstrom Games UK is the one for you. Their pricing structure makes them about 40% cheaper than buying retail, they have regular sales, and they have free worldwide shipping. Delivery times can be sketchy during busy periods of the year, but most of that isn't their fault (and is actually GW's). You won't find a better price (or if you do, shipping won't be free...).
Lord Harrab wrote:The combat company have always delivered my orders within a few days, and they are Australia based, so the wait period should be even shorter for you.
Except The Combat Company charges Australian prices, and Australian prices are 40%-50% more than the rest of the world. Ordering within Australia is pointless.

Maelstrom if in Australia. Warstore if in America. Wayland Games if in UK. At least that's what I remember from all these threads. But, Maelstrom is basically the best you'll get in Australia.
