I have thought about the idea for a few minutes, then forgot about it for a few months, then decided to post it... why is it that a land speeder storm is not a dedicated transport for the scouts??? It only makes sense, you have a vehicle that can only transport scouts... so why not? a speeder storm with scouts is like a landraider with termies, the difference is that with the termies you get a landraider and still have all of your heavy support slots open, the speeder storm takes up a fast attack slot that can be used for a squad of bikes or speeders. I highly doubt that having the speeder storm as a dedicated transport will be over powered... am I the only one who has noticed this?

I think having the Storm as a dedicated transport for scouts would be a great idea.

I agree as well.

The only problem would be if you were to take Vulkan, as he makes the storm very good. You can first turn assault with the scouts w/ powerfist and then multi-melta a tank with the speeder for a very heavy Alpha Strike. Then add some scout bikes for more first turn goodness.

There are rumors of the grey knights having Storm troopers with a Valkyrie as a dedicated transport. (very similar to the storm, Fast skimmer scout) If that is not too OP then you will probably see the storm as dedicated in the 6th edition marine book.

Sorry...

And i also want to make a scout army but it's hard when the only transport you have is also a fast attack choice which limits your options for scout bikes.

thats exactly the problem!!! because of that people never use storms (at lest from what I have seen). Scouts would be a real threat to the enemy if storms where dedicated (not saying they are not threatening but the would be more so)!

Storms can be useful, their Infiltrate move can place scoring units on objectives, you also have a very mobile Locator Beacon, allowing very accurate Deep Strikes anywhere on the battlefield. It seems that while they can be useful, there are simply better choices competing for the same FA slot.

I think the only reason storms aren't available as dedicated transports is that in the fluff they are a relatively new style of landspeeder, and the different chapters have yet to have enough to field them in large numbers.

In other words, it's a big feth off to marine scout players until the new codex

Easiest, definately.

Cheapest? Don't think that the marines have it so cheap compared to say necrons lol

However, I look at it like this. Takes a game or two to learn, but a year or two to master. There's so much flexibility to codex marines compared to everything else.

Sorry I was factoring in that every new edition of the game comes with a bunch of marine stuff.
