Ok I have made up my mined and have decided to start a new Guard army but one that has a strong backstory. Anyway after reading over all the guard novels I have and with the changing of the guard codex from being a regiment to only a company in terms of deploment. From what I have read in the codex a company commander now has the rank of capatin, although irrelavant in the points depart it kinder makes sense in the story department an example of this is in the book Cadian Blood where Captain Parmenion Thade is commander of a company whereas Colonal Lockwood is commander of the regiment. What I was wondering is how would you represent a captain in the guard, would you make him look like noble for instance lots of medals, rare capes, ornamental weapons and such or would you make him look like a battle harden vet who earned his rank thorugh countless battles and make him look like the guardsman next to him for instance beret, scars, bionic limbs etc.
Has anyone got examples of conversions that they have done or know off that would be a help.

No conversions per sey but if you give him a bionic arm and a shouty head it will make him look far more 'hands on' as it were.

The answer is "it depends."
Some worlds select their officers from noble families, or ancient traditions whereas other worlds (Catachan comes to mind) select their company commanders from the hardened vets who've fought their way up the ranks. Other worlds may specifically raise children for command ala the Schola Progenium that provides Commissars, Storm Troopers, and various other Imperial positions.
So, the answer is - it's up to you. Company commander is still a company grade officer and as such will be very common. I wouldn't expect too much in the way of support from Astropaths, Officers of the Fleet, and such. Generally, unless your army comes from a feudal world, I would say that your Company Commander shouldn't look too much different from any other officer in your company.

Yeah, how your officer looks is COMPLETELY dependent on the fluff.
My officers, for example, tend to be promoted from below, meaning that they look just like regular guardsmen, but with gorgets showing their officer status.
Also, there is an award similar to an Iron Cross or Silver Star that gives them gold-colored shoulderpads (one for second class, both for first class). Not all officers have them, but nobody who isn't one does (they tend to be promoted in my army).
Otherwise, model them based off your fluff. So long as they are in some way different from your regular guardsmen, they'll be fine.

That sounds rouglhy like what I have in mind. After thinking it over for awhile I have decided to make my Company Commander look like a rough don't take no crap battle hardened vet who's had his fare share of scrapes in battle.
