they are slaves, they are lobotomized, why would they have enough of a brain left to be able to work out and build such bulging muscles...

I don't think slaves usually need a gym membership in order to lift heavy weights all day... On account of them being slaves.

Servitors are either vat-grown or made from inmates from imperial prisons. In both cases they would have had muscle to begin with (the former being genetically "programmed' to promote muscle growth, the latter evidently having trained in prison). Some are made from failed Astartes too, so it's evident that they would have alot of muscles. It's also needed, since they carry quite the heavy weight around.

Alot of marine chapters use failed initiates for this. Dark Angels in particular, since it's hinted that they use Chaplains who know too much o.0

Most of them aren't "Battle Servitors" they are "Dusting the Drapes" Servitors, which are notoriously horrible in a battle.

guard have servitors for their techpriests too, and the mechanicum uses servitors on their titans (fw i think actually models them, not sure though, if osmeone wasted the money on one and can clarify please do) i could see a servitor that lugs around a hb for a right arm would have a really strong right leg, but thats about it, his left arm would just be a shrivelled mass...

lol CHARGER!

And servitors are not sent into the front lines due to needing a Techpriest or Techmarine to keep them going, otherwise they'll mindlock and go inert.

You'd get big muscles from carrying bits of tank around all day, and they're probably tweaked to have them.

...urrrr... I dunno

Also, because lobotomy doesn't stop protein synthesis in the cells due to exercise.
Seriously, though, as long as the Servitor is given tasks to do it's muscles will strengthen due to the strenuousness of the task.

It would also make sense to implant electro-stimulators directly into the muscles (like those "tone-your-whatever" pads) so that a servitor not doing heavy labour doesn't become weak.

He can work out just by sitting there twitching when he's not needed.

I think slavery and physical labor have a close association...so why wouldnt they be muscular? They dont have to have a membership to 24hr fitness to look ripped. Have you seen the mechanics attached to their body? Heavy bolters? they are beasts, I think the muscles are appropriate on the models

Easy answer is steroids and that there are many ways to create Servitors and many forms of Servitor as well. Some are made with the chance of combat in mind, others (like types of scribes) wouldn't need the muscle mass at all. Each is made with only one task in mind, it can do that task well but not much else. Combat Servitors are made usually to provide cover to the Tech Priests so they will have increased muscle mass and perhaps a ranged weapons. There are also fun ones like the Praetorians (although in some cases they aren't servitors) which are more tank like.

Mars even has some stray Servitors or at least did.
