not many people have heard of this game but give it a whirl if you get a chance. I would describe it as Mercenaries1 meets Assassins Creed meets Akira.

Plenty of people have heard of it. We had a review of it when it first came out on here too.

General consensus was that it sucked hardcore, and inFamous did what it intended to do far far far better.

^Ya.
inFamous looked much better IMO and had a decent story.
Prototype was a bit more....... /shrug,... mindlesser than inFamous.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Prototype was ok, sort of game I like using for stress relief after a hard day, but it wasn't good enough for me to bother finishing it.

Far, Far, Far better you say? Sucked Hardcore too eh? Pretty sure you just have a PS3 and not an Xbox.

Well that's good. Anyways I'm not saying its the best game ever or anything but it definately doesn't "suck hardcore". It's better than 80% of the games out there and deserves a look. I don't have a PS3 so I haven't played Infamours so I can't say. Generally I'm of the opinion that there can be two good games at the same time anyway.

Sure there can be "two good games at the same time".

The difference is Prototype isn't a good game.

It's very clearly a Japanese made game just from the ridiculously convoluted plot, absurd enemy design, and overcomplicated control scheme/static camera.

inFamous suffered none of those issues, and was actually fun to play through the storymode.
Prototype was not. Prototype suffered from "too much sandbox" syndrome.

I'm unfamiliar with this "syndrome". Some people like Sandbox type games and some like Linear. Different strokes for different folks: for example I think Halo multiplayer is very good.

But then you get games which are all sandbox. I personally don't like sand too much, it has a habit of getting everywhere. So infamous was good for me, as was the mercenaries franchise. I haven't played prototype but if it is anything like Brother SRM described in one of his flash videos then it is obvious its a terrible game.

I would argue that the most ubiquitous genre BY FAR is the First-Person-Shooter. Pretty sure FPSs equal all other game types combined.

It's when a sandbox game gives you far too much freedom to play around in and drowns the storyline in far too much extra crap, rather than the sandbox being a way to accomplish an immersing experience that you get while doing the storyline.

Red Dead Redemption is a great example of how a sandbox game should be done.

Ill admit Prototype was a good game, but still nothin compares to Oblivion on the xbox 360, or ps3(even tho i dont have one).

Sandbox games with alot of stuff to do is good for me I only want the "intro/tutorial" to be the linear part

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

I thought Prototype was good stress relief, up until the end. Then it become a source of stress

Meh, maybe I don't need a decent storyline, but I loved Prototype from start to finish. The patsy ability is a completely dick move (even on NPCs). Last boss fight was a bitch and a half though, took me like 10 tries to survive the whole thing.

My Armies:
Kal'reia Sept Tau - Farsight Sympathizers
Da Great Looted Waaagh!

Oblivion on 360 doesn't even deserve to share the hallowed name of Oblivion on PC. This is the sharpest tip of the iceburg but... Assassination, DECAPITATION, and motherf***ing FLYING DRAGON MOUNTS.
You have NOT played Oblivion until you've played it on PC with mods.

Dude the end boss fight was NOTHING compared to the fight vs whatsherface-the-giant-worm-thing at the 2/3 mark... Though I agree the last fight was hard, it wasn't the upwards of 20 minute torturefest she was. (unless maybe you played it on Easy, but then you just have no balls)

But Prototype was definitely a hella fun game, I don't know what you lot are on about... Sure the graphics are a bit oldish, but SO F***ING WHAT?! If I wanted graphics I'd be one of those 'hardcore' pc-only pricks who scoff at console users.

Nobody said anything about the graphics.

I said that the gameplay is flawed.

Because, as I said, it's suffering from "Too Much Sandbox" syndrome.

I thought it was pretty fun. Nowhere near enough effort was put into the story, but it's a good time-killer.

Combat got incredibly frustrating late in the game though. Nearly everything sends you flying and there are virus-detectors EVERYWHERE. If I'm playing in free-roam mode post-game, crossing the city should be a fun ride, not a chore.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Prototype makes a good rental. It'll keep you occupied long enough to finish the story but don't expect anything amazing, or much else outside of that to really urge you to do anything. I'd never buy it unless it could get it for like $10.

I didn't say any of YOU said anything about the graphics, I was acknowledging a flaw in the game to ward off accusations of 'fanboyism'. Your sarcasm is misplaced here. And the gameplay is most certainly not flawed; I've played games with flawed gameplay and they're nothing alike. I've also played games with bad cameras and this isn't one of them. I swear some of you people have Yahtzee Syndrome, where you'll criticize everything that ISN'T wrong with a game either to be funny or out of some twisted personal bias...

Yes well i prefer to play as the developers intended, so i wouldnt even bother modding Oblivion, its fine just as it is. i only use my Pc to play games that have some form of multiplayer so id never get Oblivion for PC.

I have this game, the best it gets is having all the powers and free roaming and even then the powers that you get in infamous look way cooler.
