Got my Codex in the mail today, and having a look at the Wracks and Grotesques, I'm really happy with the they look. So the important question is, what are the modelling options? This can be both counts-as and kit bashing.

Grotesques: I'm thinking Rat Ogres or Minoaturs from fantasy with a head swap, maybe a little green stuff.

Wracks: These are tough. Perhaps Dark Elf Warrior legs, and then???

im going to use ghouls and some nifty green stuffing,

For Grotesques the best representation might be the WHFB Ogre Gorgers. they look like gigantic ghouls. Cheaper alternative would probably be kitbashing Spawns with another suitably large plastic kit.

I agree with the Ghouls for Wracks. If you can get a good amount of Gorgers and Ghouls together (which is gonna be kinda expensive) It would look really good together.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I always thought that Grotesque were human sized (sorta). I would suggest Zombie Horde and Ghouls from Vampire Counts. But for huge models if they are that big, I know that the Defiler helmets actually fit to size with the Ogres and Rat Ogres.

Maybe even this guy

They used to be human size. They've made them larger. They now take up 2 slots on a transport because they're "bulky".

well the codex art makes wracks DE sized mangled constructs of the haemonculi, where as grotesques are even bigger nastier what you might have found encased in a talos engine kind of half warrior half something nasty.

I'm going to be using dark elf warrior legs with ghoul torsos modified to be more upright, chaos warrior heads with the horns cut off, and finally some greenstuff.

The old Grotesque models would make pretty good Wracks in the new book.

This is definitely what I was leaning towards.

For Groteques, I think the Beastmen Minotaurs would work. Just swap the head, possible green stuff the insectoid looking armor plates over the fur. The only issue then becomes, how the hell do you model one with a liquifier gun?

I really wish I had some green stuffing/sculpting experience.

I heard of people making Wracks with ghoul bodies and Chaos Warrior heads with the horns cut off. I see UselesswizarD suggested similar, but I'd cut the DE legs out of the equation.

I looked at the Minotaurs. I reckon Skaven Rat Ogres would look better (thinner waists, and the opportunity to use the gun arm as a liquifier gun). I think Skaven and Haemonculi would get along rather well. Once I get the order of Rat Ogres, and some time to convert them, I'll put up some pictures, maybe a how-to. Though, minotaurs would be better on a budget, as rat ogres are pretty expensive.

Yes they really changed Grotesques. They are basically Ogryns. The old grotesque models could pass off as wracks now

From the sounds of things though, the Grotesques will be metal. (Only four new plastic boxes coming out, and with Wracks as troops, Venom definite, Talos/Chronos a double kit, and the flyer double kit a likely.) I like my plastics. Though looking forwards to seeing what the Wracks kit would look like. (Haven't got my codex in the mail yet, so no idea what the wracks even look like.) Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll throw a plastic haemonculus kit in with them.
