So my friend just picked up his first warhound titan. He plays both chaos marines and chaos demons. His titan will be loaded with a plasma blastgun and a mega-bolter.

I play everyones favorite blue skinned communists.

We haven't played yet and I haven't played against a titan in 5th ed. I'm a little worried because right now the only heavy support I own is 1 broadside team (3 suits) and 2 hammerhead/ skyrays. My 13 crisis suits are all magnetized so I can load out however I want. I do also own 2 piranhas...

The question I submit before you fine folks is how would you take care of this monsterous problem. The game looks like its either gonna be 2500pts or 3000pts.

I've got 5 words and a number or an Acronym for you : 9 Broadsides All With Targetting Arrays,or 9BAWTA.

9 broadsides will murder a Warhound.

it only hase 2 Voids and 3 Structure points.

if all 9 have a clear shot i wouldn't be surprised if you downed it in 1 round.

This. Make sure to both a) spread them out so he can't nail them all with one 10" blast, and b) put 'em in cover (kind of obvious, but worth saying).

I'd agree about the cover vrs normal weapons however if the titan gets first shot against your railguns then cover usually won't help as the most effective load out on a warhound will involve strength D weapons. You'd be better off with shield drones to be safe.

Take a Team leader per squad and buy some Shieldies with a Hard Wired Drone Controller.

But I know he's gonna take plasma blastgun and vulcan mega bolters... so why get drones again?

Dunno what those are. Anyways, take drones to absorb high Strenght, low AP shots.

Ya, I do that... but I was pretty sure this thread was for Tau tactics against Titans. Not, "How to Play Tau 101."
So when I reposted what he was taking in response to being told to take drones, I wondered, "How does that help me against 10" insta-gib blasts and AP busting Mega-Bolters?"


I guess what I'm looking for is a Tau player who has faced a Titan or someone who has fielded a Titan against Tau. In hope that they might have some tactical information. I.E. "I found deepstriking A crisis team with such and such equiped to be helpful when doing this or that" or something other than "take 9 broadsides" because I just so happen to have 6 more I stated I didn't have laying around.

But thanks for the posts and ideas all the same.
