I would like to know if anybody knows how to paint marble effects? I am about to base some minis on small stone ruins and want to paint them up to look like dark marble with green tint! Any marble painting technique would be welcome, especially if it can be adapted to different colours.

The only thing I'm sure of at the moment is that I'd have to give them a lot of varnish coats to finish.

Any pics would be most welcome!

Just an idea, haven't tested it.

Paint the area white. With a dark wash/ink color, paint lines like the cracks in marble, don't let it run. Once dry, take black or dark brown and paint thin lines in the middle of the ink lines.

If you look at the painting description for Chachax the eternity warden on GW's site the give a pretty good description of a way to do marble that they've used on his weapon.

I've been thinking of a way to paint this model as a statue to be used in my Cauldron of Blood but I just couldn't think of how to properly do a marble effect. This is perfect! Now to see if I can actually pull it off...
