I recently bought a box of glade gaurd deciding taht i would use them as wood elf archers for LOTR/WOTR, as a LOTR wood elf box only has 8 archers, then 16 guys wiht hand weapons, and if you are using wood elves, they are only really worth the trouble as archers... lol.. elves with no armour are to expensive points wise and too squishy... Will post pics as i get them done and painted and all...

There are rules for LotR that prevent you taking more than 1/3 of your troops with bows.

Also, WFB stuff is waaay larger than LotR stuff. 25mm vs the 28mm-32mm that Warhammer stuff usually falls into.

well, WOTR doesn't have that rule... lol, and they look close enough to the same size... lol

No they are not close enough to the same size.

Comparing them together, the WFB models will look like space marines next to halflings.

Well, for the group i play with, it works just fine... they didn't have a prob with it, and actually said they might steal the idea... and as far as lol goes, if it bugs you, its a free country, you are free to leave the thread lol

They may look weird compared to other LotR models but i guess it is up to your opponents if they are okay with it.

Yeah, and in our group we are pretty loose when it comes to conversions/ect not to mention, i think the glade gaurd look a lot cooler tahn the LOTR wood elves

do whatever you want. I wouldn't use them because of the size issues. They will look strange next to any models you do use from the LotR range.

Having said that, i much prefere the WHFB range of models to the LotR range. Your elves will look great but some much larger than others.
