Just personal, Eldar are more fun but they can be frustrating to learn with as they are very eldar fragile but costly in comparison to IG.

IG tends to be brute force and numbers - much easier to concentrate on "what do I shoot" and learn the manuever game from an opponent while you shoot the crap out of him every turn.

Both are nice though from the aspect of you can start your army one way can not lose your investment as you change/modify your style of play.

i.e. Start out IG on foot. Put 2/3s away and mount them in chimeras. Park the chimeras and play vets in vendettas. Start with lehman russ line - modify to manticore artillery fun. Go back to the screaming hoard of foot.

Eldar much the same: 10 dire avengers in a wave serpent. Try 10 guardians in a serpent. Try both on foot and park the serpents...

Both have a lot of universal elements to their armies.

Hm, I like tier the armies ( not competitively ) on their difficulty to play, since it has been stated that you are a "noob" I would say that Imperial Guard would be a step in the right direction, great codex, great models, can't go wrong, Eldar are more difficult because of their level of un-forgiveness. Also you seem to lean towards IG from our profile... but then again, I lean VERY strongly towards Orks while I'm considering IG more than them now...

Looks like IG it is . i kinda liked them because of the way they looked, but i had the IG and Eldar codex....

Until GW releases plastic aspect warriors, warlocks and rangers, I'd definitely say IG. With luck there'll be plastic Stormtroopers coming out early next year, and you've already got the other important stuff.

IG all the way. Very easy to build, very easy to build a list you like and STILL have it be reasonably strong, and very adaptable. Pretty much the only thing it cant do is outcombat, however 50 guardsmen with 30PW attacks (5 commisar, 5 sarge) can put the hurt on most things...

I agree with IG aswell, its just generally fun to use, plus the tanks...Ohh the tanks... For the price of most 10 man tactical squads you get a LRMBT with a anti meq battle cannon and 9 Hvy bolter shots a round. Park in desired location and watch the fun fly
