So I decided to post a few of my army lists. This one is a bit different because if doesn't work as a normal marine army would and more on the lines of a Black Templar army, that is to say that it is about killing everyone on the field and winning by the Wipe-Out Rule.

This army was created to fight against my friends Nids and Khorne Chaos army (I'll teach him how to be a berserker)

So here it goes.

Hq:

Astorath the Grim

Death Company Tycho

Elites:

Chaplain - Power Fist and Melta Bombs

Chaplain - Power Fist and Melta Bombs

Troops:

Death Company (A) - 5 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 1 Infernus Pistol, Thunder Hammer, Jump Packs (5)

Death Company (B) - 14 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols,

Death Company (C) - 9 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Rhino

Death Company (D) - 9 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Rhino

Death Company Dreadnought (A) - A Pair of Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer

Death Company Dreadnought (B) - Magna-Grapple

This comes to a total of 2,000 points on the button. Astorath attaches to Death Company (A) and they enter via DoA. Tycho is joined to Death Company (B) and they rage about not having a chaplain. having more units in the squad they lack a rhino transport so they are more vulnerable than the other squads but usually are the last to enter the fray as well. Death Companys (C) and (D) are lead lead by the Chaplains and transported into battle via Rhinos. The thunder hammers and infernus pistols are effective against infantry but are really there for assault on Vehicles as the you can see the Chaplains are well equipped for. Dreadnought (A) is pure anti-horde infantry, he can possibly take out a vehicle with his Meltagun and if he is lucky damage a light vehicle, but his real duty is for chopping up infantry. Dreadnought (B) is the opposite giving more anti-vehicle weaponry than infantry, but is still effective against them none the less.

This army pretty much rewrites what ever the current mission's rules are to: To the last, kill them all.

Now against Tryanids this army just carves into their ranks like a hot-blood-crazed knife into butter. Verses Chaos, they fight like Khorne Berserkers but benefit from Feel No Pain, so they usually last longer in the fray. The biggest problem this army has is with long-range armor, like the Imperial Guard so after a few games, I swapped the Thunder Hammer that was originally in Death Company (C) to (A) so that the Deep Striking units could have a more reliable anti-armor weapon besides Astoraths Executioner's axes (which is str 6 so its actually not that reliable) and the Infernus Pistol.

One thing. DC Tycho cannot join a unit. He has to run around by himself.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

It's an interesting concept, but to win an objective battle you'll have to destroy the entire enemy army. Plus DC Tycho will die very quickly, as he doesn't have IC. He'll have to stick mainly to cover or he'll quickly be hit by a lot of the enemy's firepower.

I think he knew that

The biggest drawback for me is the foot squad. Between their slow movement, compared to the other squads, and Dante, I'd drop Dante and get another transport or jump packs. If you're going all Death Company, it's better to saturate the field with as many mindless killers as possible.

I love how the obvious is stated every time one of these lists are posted.

Like Shovan said, Tycho can't join a unit. Id drop him and and Squad C for two Drop Pods for your Dreadnoughts, and a Land Raider Crusader for Squad B. Also, your 9 man squads can only have 1 Infernus pistol, it's one per every five. Here is a suggested list:

Hq:

Astorath the Grim

Elites:

Chaplain - Power Fist and Melta Bombs

Troops:

Death Company (A) - 6 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 1 Infernus Pistol, Thunder Hammer, Jump Packs (6)

Death Company (B) - 14 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Land Raider Crusader (Multi-Melta)

Death Company (C) - 5 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Razorback (T/L AC or LC)

Death Company (D) - 5 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Razorback (T/L AC or LC)

Death Company Dreadnought (A) - A Pair of Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod

Death Company Dreadnought (B) - Magna-Grapple Drop Pod

The Drop Pods can be used to contest, Razorbacks to give you that added armor punch, and a Land Raider full of Death Co = Scary gak.

Stormravens work well with Black Rage armies. You can reliably get the DC dreads into close combat plus youll have some long range AT firepower.

FFFFFFF, I didn't realize that. I read over the codex and thought it was a typo, so I checked the errata and I guess I am in the wrong here.

I do see the benefits with adding drop pods/land raider, but one of the down-falls of this army is the expensive troops, so cutting the army by 10 models for two razorbacks wont really help.
Also having less chaplains means you have less control of the Death Company Squads, so I would have 2 squads running around.

Revised List

Hq:

Astorath the Grim

Elites:

Chaplain - Power Fist and Melta Bombs

Chaplain - Power Fist and Melta Bombs

Troops:

Death Company (A) - 5 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 1 Infernus Pistol, Thunder Hammer, Jump Packs (5)

Death Company (B) - 14 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Power Fist

Death Company (C) - 9 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Rhino

Death Company (D) - 9 Death Company Members, Close Combat Weapons and Bolt Pistols, 2 Infernus Pistols, Thunder Hammer, Rhino

Death Company Dreadnought (A) - A Pair of Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer

Death Company Dreadnought (B) - Magna-Grapple

I replaced Tycho with a 3rd Chaplain that will be attached to Death Company (B) and gave them a Power Fists to give them more of a 'punch' in melee combat. I also gave a Thunder Hammer back to Death Company (C).

Death Company in Rhino's is not that cool. I really think you should try to have them in assault vehicles if possible, I know easier said then done, but there is nothing worse then giving the opponent a turn to not only shoot at your Death Company, but also set up some bait for the footslogging DC unit.

Anyway, Good luck!

Stormravens are your best bet. They can transport two of your units (a Dread and a squad of DC) much more easily and efficiently than a Raider or Rhino ever could. It also provides you with a gun platform which your army lacks, while still sticking to the overall theme.

Chaplains can't control Black Rage anymore. That's why people put them in vehicles.

You also still have 9 man units with 2 infernus pistols. That's a no-no.

How do you have more then one Death Company. Under there heading it says one per army and no Cambat Squad, am I missing something.

Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Astorath removes the 0-1 limit on DC squads.
