Look at the photo below, taken a week ago at an Apocalypse match:

If you were the 'Nids, what would you do in this situation?

A: Run North towards the Blood Angels

B: Head South and assault the Sanguinary Guard

C: Run East towards the Warhound Titan

This is just a silly thing I thought I would put on here, the Nids have absolutely nowhere to go and they will be wiped out next turn, but what would your next actions be, in hoping to take someone out with you?

Run towards the warhound titan! That way you can make it go boom!

North. The Guard are closer, but the tactical marines are far more fragile (if any Marines can be said to be fragile).

If I could get tied up in combat, the Warhound wouldn't have a target.

Are/were there any Tyranids outside this picture, or is this all they had left?

Oooh a very nice question, put some more of these on here eh?

Me, as has been said, I'd go north/B. All though the nids have all but lost, their chances are greatest if attacking the weaker foot-units, I'd charge the warriors and genestealers into the tacticals most likely, trying to eliminate as much as the enemy as I can, particularly their weaker troops. Whilst the zoan shoots the rhino, hoping for a few casulties from the explosion and offering a charge-target to the guard behind him. During this I'd try to use the hormies to tie up the other Sanguinary Guard squad by the vindicator.
The best chances of (relative) success IMHO are offered this way and at-least the warhound can't shoot you...

south with the genestealers, decent chance they could kill the guard in the long run. Hit the assault squad with the warriors. Have the Zoanthrope shoot that freakin Vindicator. That way you should stay locked in close combat and neither of the CC marines would be able to assault you, cause you already hit them. The BA player would then have to decide to shoot at your zoanthrope with tactical's or assist in an assault. I bet you the Nid's could have pulled it off that way, of course assuming that all that was on either side was what you have pictured.

Hmm, quite a few different responses, I'm impressed.

Here's another photo of the same match, taken about 20 minutes after:

We had set this up so there would be one Warrior left, as we wanted a very dramatic, albeit squishy, death at the hands (or should I say feet) of the Warhound!

Notice the 250 tonne tank with it's main cannon pointed directly at the window?

This one was taken at the same point the photo in the original post as well as the one before was taken.

OK, well for the first one I'd get the Reaver Titan to put on a Condom.
For the 2nd one I'd get the pathfinders to go to ground or leg it all-together
and for the bottom one I'd close that gowdamn door!

Next?

Actually, I have found another photo worthy of mention. This was taken during a standard match with my Blangels against some Eldar. The Warlock decides to use Destructor (essentially a Heavy Flamer), and places the template towards my termies like so:

However, he is out of range by the very slightest of margins:

The gap's probably less than a couple of mm, but we both agreed that it still didn't count as being in range therefore the shot did nothing.

Just goes to show how important your troop placement is, even in open ground

Sorry for the threadnecromancy but I took a few photos today which I think people would like to see.

General Apocalypse game, with a fair few Super Heavies. Reaver and Warhound are deployed on a hill with Blood Angel support, with Blangel Termies and Sang. Guard supporting the east flank. The Bio-Titan is getting within dangerous range of the Imperial Titans.

The Hierophant edges ever closer, having lost 5 wounds to the Vortex Missile, and a further 4 in combat with the TH/SS Termies and Sang. Guard ( 3+ Invulnerable!)

Alas, their efforts are in vain, as the noble Reaver Haestus Terrae is finally brought down for the first time by Pylons and the Hierophant. However, all is not lost, as a team of elite Deathwatch Marines clamber through the wreckage of the war-machine, risking heat and radiation levels lethal even to a Space Marine in hope of delivering their package: a Fusion Pulse Charge, capable of ripping the hearts out of the Hierophant in an instant. Their attack ends in failure however, as the Hierophant manages to escape towards an armoured company before they can plant the charge. Final volleys of Hellfire bolts do nothing to stop it's advance. However, all Deathwatch units managed to evacuate via teleportation, the carnage on the planet below resulting in one possible solution: Exterminatus!

It was meant to be 2000 each with no FOC, but we simply lost track of how many players to be honest, but I would estimate that it was about probably 15000 points per team.

well, in the spirit of not letting the thread die, I will add another situational comment:

that outta show 'em! At least after I was destroyed, I could die happily, knowing some poor SM sap had to clean my poo off of the Titan after battle!
