So this matter concerning Kill Points.

What counts as a "unit"?

I.e Does dedicated transport count as a separate unit? How about the drones on the Tau tanks? IG Infantry Platoons?

The point is, where is that line drawn?

This is me being gakload confused.

Anything that operates independently is a unit.

A dedicated transport does NOT need to remain in coherency witht he unit that bought them, therefore it is a separate unit.

The Gun Drone can "disembark" and so are a separate unit to the devilfish, same as the devilfish is separate to the fire warrior / pathfiinder squad.

You may be getting confused between Force Organisation CHOICE and *unit*

Dedicated transports and their unit are 1 choice, but 2 units.
IG Infantry squads and the PCS are 1 choice, but 3+ units.

Under the couch

Units are explained at the front of the rulebook. Essentially, each group of models or single model that functions individually of other models on the battlefield is a unit.

So yes, a dedicated transport is a separate unit to the squad it is bought for.

The Gun Drones on Tau Vehicles form a separate unit once they disengage from the vehicle, as explained in the codex on page 30.

IG Infantry Platoons are a single FoC choice that is made up of multiple units.

The 'line' is that if it functions as an entity by itself on the battlefield, it is a unit.
