Played an 800 point game against my friends tau army. He lost a squad of xv85 to a deep strike mishap. Then failed to kill anything except two destroyers, which one of came back. My turn. I landed my monolith in front of the building where he was storing a squad of pathfinders with rail rifles and an etheral (his hq, and we were playing kill the hq just for fun) and a shild drone. I killed off a nearby squad of fire warriors with a particle whip then I killed eveything in the building with the gauss flux arcs before he could even begin his advance. Win!

Why did your friend even include an Etheral in an 800 point game?

Those are useless even in big games.

Should've taken the Shas'o instead, which by the way is a required unit in the T'au army.

why did he lose his XV85s when the pathfinder devilfish lets you reroll deepstrike drift?

He had no develfish we both have 3500 points of guys but his only vehicle in that match was a hammerhead.

Then his list was illegal, Pathfinders need to take a devilfish, it's mandatory. Besides that, just looking at the summary tells me his list wasn't very good, nor were his tactics.

I dont know if the monolith has a special rules or something, but how can you deep strike on the first turn?

You cant fire the particle whip and flux arcs in the same turn, not sure if you did or not, it just seems like you did the way you wrote it.

How long has your friend been playing Tau...you make him sound like he knows nothing about Tau.
