Howdy Dakka-rites!
I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to put this Thread, but it seemed to not fit anywhere else.

Has anyone on here played the 40K RPG 'Deathwatch' yet? If so, how did it go? What did you like/hate about it? How about a game report, or any thoughts on the game or the setting!

I only ask, because I will (hopefully) be playing it myself next Sat (13th Nov) -
I will be playing a Dark Angel Tactical Marine, with the 2 other guys playing a Ravenwing Apothecary and a Crimson Fist Devastator.
We are doing figure representation too - so (hopefully) I will post a picture of my guy for you [I'm going down the line of a John Woo type of Marine, with twin-wielded plasma pistol and bolt pistol, and a complicated history involving the Adeptus Mechanicus {I'm also thinking of posting his history when I've done it}]. Interested guys?

Looking forward to it, should be fun!

Actually, RPGs like Deathwatch are dealt with in this subforum:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/24.page
(and news about it here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/310907.page )

Game mechanics are almost identical to the previous stages of 40k RPGs (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader) but with Space Marines. Personally I find Space Marines boring and stick to the other systems, but an RPG group here has fun with it.

Thanks Kroothawk, I'm sure the Invigilators will move this there when they notice it.

Sadly, most of the people in the Deathwatch groups I've joined have lost interest with it rather quickly (and then went back to roleplaying DH and RT instead). Good luck with your own roleplays and all.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I've seen the exact opposite over here in my RPG area.

So, it depends?

Do you like Space Marines and the adventures and adversaries they can face?

Do you have a good RPG group and a good GM?

If 'yes', then you'll have a blast.

If you don't like Space Marines to begin with, then you won't like this game either.

Obviously.

Just finished the first instalment of our Deathwatch game, playing the Final Sanction game.
Just broke off the game for the night with myself ('Brother Breetai' the Dark Angel Tactical Marine) and another player ('Brother Vergas' the Crimson Fist Devastator Marine) in the grand ballroom of the Governor's Palace fighting 7 Genestealers; and the other player ('Brother Corax' the Ravenwing Apothecary Marine) in the tunnels beneath the Stores fighting close combat with a couple of Genestealers - he won!.
I can honestly say we had a bloody good time - I am totally amazed at the killing power of Marines against Hordes.

Best Moment - when I noticed the Genestealer in the chandelier above us, silently communicated with my Devastator Brother who beforehand was threatening the Governor, and then swiftly raised his Heavy Bolter (c/w Implosion rounds) firing it into the chandelier, genestealer and roof! Needless to say this frightened the poop out of the Governor (along with several hundred of the ruling elite currently ensconced in the palace) and only a purple mist and crystal shards rained down. Unfortunately for us this then alerted the other 7 genestealers to attack, and fun ensued.

Good Fun!

hiya guys .. its AntZ1988 i play the crimson fist devestator, and may i say i am soooooo happy at finally playing a space marine.. the power is imense. i personally layed wast to so many enemys jus using a heavy bolter(which is awsome may i say ) as did my allies and i was impressed at what damage a normal bolter can do and it is so nice to have a challenge fighting xenos and creatures stronger than us. its a well layed out game. our GM is awsome aswell .......the ball room insident was soooo funny, i got word from my dark angel brother via our comms and without thought shoved my heavy bolter in the air and pulled the trigger its safe to say we wrecked the room. and the genestealer can now fit in any small sized suitcase or overhead compartment lol thanks to the sexy implosion rounds WOOOOOO

not to be too mean Ant, you should prob be careful with the spelling and the grammar, some people really care about things like that.

I am happy your game is going well! I am interested in trying it out sometime, how is the fluff and character building, can you build a very unique character, or are all tactical marines more or less the same no matter the chapter, etc. Is there room for home brewed chapters? or is that solely GM based?
