Alright, I recently have had some WoC come into my possesion. I have 10 wolves, 20 marauders with what seems to be a champion and a standard bearer, 10 WoC (dual hand weapons) with a Champion and standard bearer, and 5 Chaos Knights (enscrolled weapons) with a Champion and a standard bearer. I also have a sorcerer from my old VC army, and the corpse cart which can easily be a warshrine. So, can someone suggest what my first list with these guys should be? I wanted to be khorne/ slaanesh themed. Any help would be great, as I am lost in this fantasy thing.

What are the marauders armed with?

the Warriors are perfect with a MoK. with 2 hand weapons and MoK they will have 4 attacks each.

Knights are great with MoK as well(if/when you buy more, never EVER give them lances)

off the top of my head you should have about 1k.

i reccomend you don't give the sorceror a mark because, 1) you will have access to the nice BRB lores, 2) Slaneesh's lore is pretty lame, 3) Tzeench and Nurgle wouldn't be very fluffy although their lores are pretty nice.

ouch

you will probably want to get 2 more marauder boxs and set 1 up with flails the other with HW and shields.

Flails are awsome with MoK. Shields work best when combined with MoT because of Parry(6+ ward becomes 5+), but it wouldn't be very fluffy.

MoS is the cheaper, but less effective mark. you might play around with how it works on shield marauders.

Couldnt I just say they have flails one day and sheilds the next? Its more flails then anything else, but dont you only need 50% of the unit to have that weapon for it to count? (Dont have a rulebook at school )

WYSIWYG will be enforced at tournaments, but if your opponent is fine with it then its ok.

i could see it working when you want all flails, but not the other way around as flails stick way out above the model while the shields are pretty mundane.

The standard 8th ed list is built around blocks of Chaos Warriors: 15-20 models with shield and mark of TZ or halberd and Mark of Kh. This unit will run about 300 points or so.

Marauders can run with mark of TZ and shield ranked deep to out steadfast the opponent. I've used 50 marauders with GW in the horde formation - the unit has the offense of chaos warriors, but lack the defense. The only value for Marauders with flails is as a small flanking force intended to fight other small units.

For a list using what you own now, I would recommend:
Lv 4 sorcerer
BSB
possible 3rd fighty type character (depending on army point values)
Knights
20 Marauders with shields (maybe buy 1 box to make this unit 36 strong)
10 hounds
15 warriors with halberd and mark of KH
repeat warrior unit until points are spent

Your best bet is to play a game or two and see what you want/feel you are lacking from there... You can make a decent army using all the models you own. I would suggest khorn knights, slaneesh warshrine, either on the warriors (although shields are probably better in general), and khorn maruaders if you do a block of 20, or two slaneesh flail units of 10. Hero to your preferance and try a few games

I would advise an all Khorne (DONT FORGET THE E!) army since I heard they are getting quite competitive.

Thanks for the help guys.

I am open to having my sorccer doing tzeentch, as mercs need some tricks up their sleeves. Just no nurgle. The models were bought second hand, so thats why I am stuck with what I have now. Two ten man units of slaanesh marauders (Gunna look either funny or cool with the totem in the center of the unit), a unit of 10 khorne woc, 5 khorne knights, two 5 man units of wolves with both upgrades for harass, ans a sorcerer with a lore (I dont know which, and dont have an 8th ed book yet, so if someone could help me out on that it would be great) and a steed. Warshrine might be out, as its the big corpse cart with half eaten bodies falling off. It dosent look right for it to be a slaanesh cart. Anyway, keep the help coming, its doing good!

but only when armed with Great weapons or halbards. Shield warriors really shine with MoT(5+ invuln FTW)

Tzeench can also summon the toughest Lord ever. Lord with MoT, Tali of Preservation and Enchanted shield pulls a 2+ armor and a 3+ ward. give him a barded steed and he is at 1+ armor. and he still has points to spend on Gifts and a magic weapon.

If you are going to use knights, MoT and Blasted standard are a great option, as is MoN and the banner that gives you permanent Frenzy.

Sorcerer lords with MoT on a disc seem to be the way to go if you want to use magic of any kind. Puppet is also a must as it alters miscasts, both yours and your opponents. Can be a real life save and a real pain to magic using armeis like elves and Lizardmen
