On a boat, Trying not to die.

So, to make a log story short, I have a .2mm long piece of graphite jammed into the tendon of my big toe.

Question is, should I go to the doctors? I mean, it really hurts, buts I usually suck up stuff like this.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Chowderhead13

Pull it out and clean it with some water apply pressure with a rag or paper towel, let it scab over, wash any dry blood you see, that is all.

That's the problem right there. I can't pull it out. It's wedged in there pretty good.

Like I said, it's stuck. We tried tweezers, a toothbrush, epsom salt baths, everything.

No just go to the doctor and get them to fix it up if you haven't been able to remove it yourself. The alternative is to cut around it a bit then pull it out with tweezers, but as it's the tendon go to the doctor and let them handle it.

I agree with not U. If its really in the tendon then you shouldnt mess with it. BUT if its just near or close to the tendon and your exaggerating (like saying yea I seriously made 100 saves with one Ork!) then just suck it up, and cut it out

Use a hemostat or pliers if you have those. The smart thing would be to see a doctor though as you could get an infection from the foreign debris.

What? another OMG I NEED MEDICAL/LEGAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP! MY FIRST PORT OF CALL ARE RANDOM INTERNET DUDES! Thread.

Take a blunt knife then jam itinto some soil before attempting the cut. Get some random to spit on the mangled mess afterwards then liberally apply salt.

Doctor would be a smart idea.

If you can't/won't, you're going to want to liberally disinfect the area, and cut with a very sharp, clean and disinfected knife, boiling for preference on the knife. Cut as little as possible, but do so in a deliberate manner in the attempt to do it in one so you're not shredding up the area and slowing healing down. Once it's out, be sure to clean the wound well and keep it clean, foot's a good place for a bad infection.

Again though, doctor. They'll probably do the same thing, but they'll do it with better tools that have been run through an autoclave. That and if you're lucky they'll do it under local anesthetic. Had to extract part of an incredibly infected toenail like this once, it hurts like unholy hell to slice footflesh.

Best of luck, and again, doctor. If you won't go, I can't stress enough to -boil- your tools. Alcohol isn't as effective as you'd think, boiling will give you about the best cheap disinfection you can get in a kitchen.

I propose amputation at the neck, it solves all problems!

Yea I had to have part of a work boot removed from a stab wound I received while installing cable. It sucked something fierce, and yea any type of cut/wound on the foot is just painful. The fun part was the doctor had to stick the tweezers into the hole in my foot to pull the crap out.

Its extreme, but totally true.

You need to nip these kinds of things in the butt quickly or you'll just suffer. My methods may seem extreme but I've never had a complaint after the fact.
