What are the goods and bads of each army? What is the army theme? (eg. shooty, close combat) I plan to start warmachine in the future and am wondering what i should pick. Khador and Protectorate stand out the most to me. Thanks.

Oh and what are your general thoughts about the game compared to lets say 40k or fantasy.

Both do the combat game like a pro. The difference is that with Khador all units and solo´s are great by themselves. The Menoth jacks and some of the units shine more with layered buffs to make them shine.

small example=
Khador has a heavy jack called a berserker. It is arm 20 and has ps 19 on the axe (huge)
Menoth has a heavy jack called a crusader. It is arm 19 and has pow 17 (I think) on a mace. The protectorate can have a small unit called choir, which buffs this jack to a p+s 19 and mat 8, making it capable of taking out more then his original statline would suggest. Play the cards right and they can have 3 or 4 defensive and offensive buffs on them at any time.

Khador is much more self reliant and does have some ways of boosting units through casters, but they are mostly stand alone guys who excel in just that.

That's a Juggernaut. Zerkers are ARM 18 and PnS 16.

No problem. I'm kind of set on protectorate. I plan to do a sort of chaos theme. They look pretty chaotic already and it somewhat makes a connection between piety and ...well chaos in the sense that they are very similar. Sci-fi speaking.

Convert some Zealot from the Skaven line liken to Poison Wind Globadiers and stuff.
