Hey guys,

I'm planning on modelling a Chimera for my PBS and I got curious about how to paint it.

This thought process led me to wonder about just how it should be painted and there are some things to consider:

Would PBS' even have personalised transports? Or would their Chimera be loaned to them by the regiment?
Who is responsible for PBS'? Are they part of the regiment or simply temporarily attached? The handler is from the Commissariat, does that mean that Psykers are within their responsibility?

I notice that the Lexicanum page for the Adeptus Astra Telepathica says that Psykers are passed on to other Imperial branches; I'd assume that to mean that they're in the regiment... I'm not sure.

Quick answers mean I can get creative quicker

In the imperium, psykers rank just below an especially squirrely plasma gun.

I think they get tacked onto whatever the specific regiments command structure might be. And that can vary wildly from army to army. I see no problem having a personalized chimera for your psykers. Doing so wont be destroying the setting or anything like that.

York/London(for weekends) oh for the glory of the british rail industry

They have no command power, they are probably ranked about the same as a guardsman, but they would get their own quarters seeing as regular soldiers gets freaked by them. They are probably seen alot like ratling or ogryns, useful tools in box but not trusted.

I would think the transport would come from the regiment's own motor pool.

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

They are the responsibility of the astra telepathica and attached to regiments when needed. They do not have home regiments.

Heh, that's the kind of answer I'm looking for... here's hoping we can find a consensus.

How do you think the Chimera would look? Do you agree with the poster above that it'd be drawn from the regiment's motor pool? I'm feeling pretty tempted not to customise it if that's the case.

Think of them as another specialty support branch ( like engineers, medical corps etc. ). They are attached to the HQ and sent to support other units on the field as necessary. The Adeptus Astra trains and lends them to the IG but Regiment has tactical command on the field.

Thematically I could imagine the PBS Chimera having some special markings or color codes. Nothing too fancy mind you. One thing that any competent enemy will know is to shoot the "funny/important/weird looking" enemy vehicle. Chances are it is some sort of command unit.

Interesting, it's a pity I can't use that lovely Inquisition Chimera back-ramp from Forgeworld... but hey!

I indicated Commissarial vehicles with red stripes on a black hull... Perhaps I'll just do red stripes on a normal (green) hull, since the handler is a Commissar 'n' all.

Assuming that you are correct about the Commissariat (and I have no reason to doubt you, but I haven't bothered to check), it seems like you would have three equally valid options:

First, the Chimera could be a regimental Chimera. The company commander could make a decision to deploy these irregular forces, and could assign them a Chimera. Also, if the handler is a member of the Commissariat, he could possibly simply requisition/commandeer one himself. This would be easiest, and it would allow you to have a Chimera for other uses as well.

The Chimera could be one from the Commissariat. I like this option, as it could be a grim and brooding looking vehicle, and it could also be used if you happened to take a Lord Commissar and no battle psykers.

The Chimera could be the property of the Scholastica Psykana (or whatever it is called). Chimeras are a relatively common vehicle, so it's possible that the Psykers could have one from their own organization. This would probably not match the paint scheme of the regiment, but would share a 'battle group' marking with them. This could also look pretty cool, as you could have a lot of deliberate psychic imagery on this one (eye, lightning, book, etc).

I think any of those three options would be plausible in the background. However, you would have to pick one and stick with it. If you make a Chimera that has the strange and arcane marking of the Scholastica Pyskana on it, then don't put a normal Company identification number on it, etc.

Would a vehicle that carries psykers have special equipment to protect them from the warp at least while travelling? What about an explosive device that could be activated in case something went wrong?
