I have a small force of eldar corsairs kicking around, and I would like to expand to an actual army, usable in semi-competitive games.

The clue is in the title, should I use the craftworld eldar list (which better reflects the weaponry used by the corsairs though I don't want to include grav-tanks as they seem to ground-warfare style) or the shiny new Dark Eldar list (with its light transports, capable fighters, and webway portals, but completely the wrong sort of guns).

Your thoughts dakka?

If it's corsairs then DE seem to fit much better across more of what you're looking for.

However, the corsair (piratical but not downright evil) fleets originate from the craftworlds(path of the outcast) and don't use the weird splinter weaponry which is comparatively underpowered

Considering you can have both Craftworld-origin Corsairs and DE-origin Corsairs (which is why most Imperial forces barely distinguish between the two), I'd say go with either.

For more of a raiding force, go with DE, and "counts-as" all of the esoteric/DE specific weaponry as "low quality" or "field-modified" craftworld gear.

For a corsair attack fleet, take Yriel from the standard Eldar, and give them a bunch of FA stuff (like the new Hornet) and maybe a couple "counts-as" grav-tanks.

Use Dark Eldar figures as an Eldar army?

The Reaver and the Venom/Viper are pretty much interchangeable, and one man's Incubi is another's Striking Scorpion etc.

I think the Raider is a must-have Corsair vessel personally - I am sure with a bit of thought its possible to mod it to a believable Alt-Wave Serpent :-)

What source did you get the DE-origin corsairs from, I thought they were craftworld/exodite rejects Xcaliber?
Your ideas have potential

Also, does anyone know of the make-up of a Nightfire raiding force form IA Apoc2 and what it does?
