When shooting out of a vehicle, with the units embarked in it, do they have to shoot at the same target as the vehicle itself shot at?

In a word, no, they are a seperate unit so can shoot at whomever they wish.

As above. Separate units, so can shoot different targets.

I can't find this in the rulebook, can you tell me what page its on? (I have the small one) - Just so I can point it out down in the FLGS. Thanks.

Defniition of units, page 3, tells you they are seperate units.

(If they werent you would have to maintain coherency with the rhino at all times, you would be limited to the speed of the slowest member of the unit, meaning no vehicle could go over 6" a turn, etc)

The shooting rules only require that every member of the same unit fires at the same target. If you are not a member of the unit then you can fire at a different target.

The reason you cant find it is because it is a compound rule - you find they are seperate units, which means they are not bound by the same restrictions as a single unit when it comes to selecting targets.

Just as Nos said, the rules from page 3 combined with the rules from page 16 (shooting) make the clear case that transports and the embarked unit are separate and may then fire and separate targets. You will not find a rule spelling it out any more than that.

Correct, there is no rule. There is this FAQ though from GW.

Q. Must passengers fire at the same target that
their vehicle is firing at?
A. No, they are a separate unit (albeit they are
temporarily co-existing with the vehicle) and so
can fire at a different target.
