I realize that it's a small market for them, but I really miss modern combat sims. I'd love another game like LOMAC or Falcon 4 with a more comprehensive corverage of aircraft. A modern tank sim or modern sub warfare sim would be incredible. Any other sim fans out there?

Heh, seen you on here a couple times and wondered if you played. The IL-2 series was great, and I still think that WWII flight sims offer the best air combat experiance you can get due to the sheer visceral thrill that gets lost in modern aircraft sims. I do like the performance of modern aircraft though, so I tend to bounce back and forth between the two.

I think the biggest problem with sims is two fold. One is that they tend to lack the 100% action, 100% of the time feel that Afterburner styled games have, and some people just want to get in and blow stuff up. The other is the sheer list of key commands to learn. It can be pretty overwhelming to someone without much experience to sims.

Rise of Flight is probably the best looking Sim fighter I've seen. Close second would be Aces High 2 if you want THE best online play and pretty good graphics. The flight physics are really good for both, and I know that if you want to fly multiplayer in AH2, it is a steep learning curve but fun nonetheless.

Yeah I tend to like modern sims myself. My favourite modern sim back in the day was US Navy fighter 97. That game was sweet for a modern flyer.

Rise of Flight looks pretty interesting, haven't played a quality WWI sim yet. AH2 is another that I haven't messed with. I played the original AH, but didn't really care for it. I might try the second one though at some point...still, neither are set in current generation aircraft. I've been thinking about getting DCS: Blackshark to get my rotor fix.
