Wasn't sure if this belonged in general or in painting, but Paint & Model seem to be very much more 'showcasey'.
My roommate wants me to paint his CSM army (because his eyes are bigger than his stomach so to speak). We're looking at a good 3 full squards of Marines, a Defilier, Rhino, Landraider, along with a box each of the god specific Elites.
My painting skill I'd say is average to above average. I can't do NMM for the life of me but I'm fully capable of using washes and basic layering, I tend to do tabletop paintjobs for the majority of units and spend a little more time on HQs or other particularly detailed models.
Colorscheme is bone & red with coppery corroded metal.
What would be a fair price to paint something like this?
(Will try to find images of some of my work later)

~70 infantry 2 vehicles and a defiler. Price will vary drastically based on end result.
I'll just say that you should allow for the defiler to be more of a job than you expect it to be - painting one to just tabletop by my standards took me longer than just about anything else I've done that didn't involve loads of blending.

Took a picture of a test model I did for the color scheme. Definitely not the most amazing thing ever but I thought it looked pretty decent on the tabletop.
Hopefully that can provide somebody with an idea of whats fair cause I really got no idea.

at least for me I wouldnt work for less than $10 per model, assuming about 2 hours per model. many people who paint for money take far too little considering how much time is involved in doing a really good job.

Yes he's gonna pay $700 for all of his infantry painted, hell BlueTablePainting only charges last time I check around 7 bucks a painted model at pretty good standards.

Yea 10$ per MODEL sounds a little crazy. I'm definitely not golden daemon anything quality.

The lowest I'd go if someone were picking the models and color scheme themselves would be $10 per model, but nobody in their right mind would pay me that.
Now if someone handed me a box of bitz and said "I want you to model these into rad poses" I'd be more inclined to give a good price.

Blue Table is abysmal work for the pricing; you're just paying for brand recognition. I paint at $3 a mini and it's to a better standard than their stuff. I'm probably going to raise that to 4 bucks in the next big job or two, since holy hell, that's a lot of my time for the money. Then again, you don't do this sort of thing as your main job. The Defiler I'd probably charge 50-60 for since it's so big and complex, and frankly is a nightmare to paint.

Guys we have around here charge twice model cost, e.g. 10 marines at £18 = £3.60 to paint. But theyre good.
You dont want to know how much one of the guys gets...hes a 'Eavy metal contractor for marines and MAN does he know how to paint....!

Yea I am definitely not that level of quality, though it is definitely a significant time investment.
