What visual indicator is there of "Prime" status on the model? Not sure if this is the right place to post this but couldn't see any other places

The kit has a whole slew of indicators in the instructions pointing out which bits go onto a Trygon and which bits go onto a Trygon Prime.

For example, the mandibles, top of the head, and tail.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Ah. I got mine 2nd hand already built so I didn't see that. I just assumed there were different pieces for Mawloc vs Trygon.. Hmm I'll have to get ahold of some of those differences. Not sure If I can ask what they are on here but it's a matter of if I were to play a triple Trygon list and 1 is a Prime, I'm trying to figure out how to make sure the models look different

Also, if you are concerned with this for game play, as long as you say which one it is before the game starts 90% of players and local tournaments won't care its the wrong jaw/head spikes/tail. Just ask beforehand.

Yes.

That said, I ignored all that and built it the way I liked.

It's not too hard to tell the Trygon Prime in my army apart from the dozens of Trygons and Mawlocs that aren't on the table because I don't have any. When I do make a second model I will just stick a marker on its base to show it is/isn't a Prime.

A lot of Tyranid players, let alone Eldar or IG, don't know the official parts for a Prime, anyway.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Basically Trygon has simple skull carapace and small mandibles, Trygon Prime has slightly spiked skull carapace and bigger mandibles, Mawloc has antenna skull carapace and antenna mandibles.
The assembly instructions also feature different breast carapaces and tails, but these are just different biomorphs chosen that both Trygon and Trygon Prime can have.

So an incredibly minor difference that probably wont be noted anyways heh..

For a small tournament chances are as long as there's something to tell them apart I shouldnt have an issue is what I'm hearing.

Even if you just leave a dice on the base as a marker that would be fine.

Paint it differently than your other Trygons; problem solved.

This would be my answer.
However, knowing Nerrik, painting isn't really his strong suit, but maybe this will motivate him a bit.

A Trygon Prime has little spikes on the top of it's head and the "crotch" armor plate, with larger mandibles and a rattlesnake-like tail. The mandibles and tail are much more noticeable than the spikes on the head and armor.

In general a T-Prime should look alot beefier than a normal Trygon. However it's purely aesthetic and model wise just tell your opponent which is which.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
