I was talking with my friends earlier and one of them was saying that unlike shooting when you use a blast you have to roll the wound versus against the IC separately from the unit he is in, instead of going for the majority of the group. I tried to find where it says that in the core rule book, I cant find support for one answer or another.
edits for horrible spelling and grammar.

No, your friend is wrong. That's the way it used to work, but in this edition, the models under the marker are just an indication of how many models are hit by the blast. You don't wound those specific models.
So the IC in the unit is only hit by the blast if the owning player chooses to allocate wounds to him.

yes that what i was referring to, i re-read it and realized I hadn't explained well.
So for rolling to wound if the IC has joined the unit an I shoot a template or blast marker at it and hit, I roll against the majority toughness of the unit?

That's correct. It works exactly the same as any other shooting... you're just using a blast marker or template to determine the number of hits, instead of rolling Hit dice.

Thank you for the fast replies, I was sure this was the way it worked but I've been wrong before.

And remember as well, even if the IC is covered by the template, you DO NOT have to take a wound on him, if there is an alternative model available (up to the maximum number of wounds suffered by your unit)
