I'm about to start building a Night Lords army, I was originally going to have them with muddy ruins and rubble bases. However after playing Dawn Of War 2; Chaos Rising I find myself wanting to model them on the same frozen wastleland that was featured in the game.

I've already searched the forum and found an excellent snow tutorial from Coolminornot.com. But this isn't a simple snow plain that I'm after it's a frozen wasteland, which is a bit more complex.

I'd be very grateful for any help with the following questions...

Is there any good resin bases on the web that would suit this theme?

How much snow should I add to the bases?

Apart from adding the snow what other effects can I apply to give the sense of the frozen environment?

How do I create an good flat ice effect?

Should I paint the terrain underneath like normal or give it a certain shade?

Any further advice and tips would be great?

Any chance of some pictures of good snow bases, I've seen a few Golden Daemon entries but thats it?

Since I've now found the best techniques to add a frozen feel to my bases, what do you guys think to this selection of urban bases, do you think these will look good with a good layer of snow and ice?

Set 1 - Set 2 - Set 3 - Set 4- Character Bases 1 & 2

I'd say set 4 and character base 2, I like the stone quantities on them.
