Hi i am about to start dwarfs as my first fantasy army and was wondering is the dwarf battalion a good starting point for my army ?

I'd probably try to see if there's any cheap Battle for Skull Pass kits lying about.

Hmmm, check out ebay for the bfsp sets, they've been pretty cheap on there for a while, the unipose models bother some people, but it's not bad.

I'm not familiar with the dwarf battalion, though I always find it funny at how big the box is compared to what's inside...very misleading...

It contains a regiment of warriors plus 2 extra sprues of warriors, a regiment of Thunderers or crossbows, and a cannon or organ gun.

The batallion is a good buy. The bfsp is OK if you get it cheap. Otherwise I'd pass. Warriors with hw/s I find underwhelming compared to those with great weapons. I also prefer quarellers over thunderers. Still if you do find them cheap its a good way to fill out your starting troops which is what I did. I get the most use out of the stubby cannons from 2 bfdp sets.

Hard to go wrong with the Battalion set. I'm really not a fan of the BFSP dwarf sculpts, but if you don't mind 'em it's an ok buy. Unless you're trying to build the 100% most efficient list, you should get some utility from those guys, but hand weapon/shield warriors, thunderers, and miners are not blowing my socks off right now.

I agree with this. I have the skull pass set. Of course now im torn between expanding it further with dwarfs. But also goblins !
