Hello. I am a person who only recently started getting into the WH40K background fluff and lore.

And I found myself getting particularly caught up in the concept of Chaos and the Chaos gods. Which led me to Chaos Undivided.

I've read enough threads and pages on the subject to understand the idea of it. But I want to know yours.

My question for all you Dakkites out there is thus: If you worshipped Chaos Undivided, how would you go about doing so?

Focus on one god if it favours you in the upcoming event, then change for another?

Focus on all in general, hoping for any or all to aid you?

Other options?

It depends. For those who live in Chaos infested areas near the Eye, I imagine they would seek to supplicate all of the gods, and may seek specific favor here and there with specific acts or offerings. For example, if illness broke out, more prayers would probably be aimed at Nurgle. Before an impending attack, Khorne would likely get more attention.

For traitors, it would likely be aimed at the goals of the group. Those seeking to wind into the power structure would probably lean towards Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Poor, sickened, mutant masses would probably lean towards Nurgle. Again, Khorne on the eve of battle.

Basically, the Chaos gods are powerful, but demanding, patrons. The goal is to not upset any, and keep them all happy. But you may need special help here and there, and so try to draw particular favor, again without angering any others.

Not being beholden to one god. But working for all four as it suits you. As well as the veneration of chaos as a whole. Of course if you promises aren't held you'll be in trouble.

I see Chaos commanders that follow the path of undivided worship using their patrons gifts at all times during the battle following its ebb and flow.

Undivided worship in one act, everyones happy:
Find a plaything - Slannesh
Pass on some STD - Pappy Nurgle
Slaughter the plaything - Khorne
Lie about the deed and blame it on someone else - Tzeentch.

On reflection maybe only Tzeentch is happy in this situation.

Worshipping Chaos undivided must be hell, I mean, you have to tread carefully around the whole pantheon of the gods.

Rather than work for any one god, work against the enemies of all the gods.

And how does one go about doing that? The Chaos Gods are enemies to each other. Nurgle vs. Tzeentch and Khorne kind of vs. Slaanesh.

With undivided it's all about keeping the big four happy.

If you want the blessing of Khorne before a battle you would have to also appease Slaanesh, Nurgle and Tzeentch to not lose favour. Sacrifice and ritual or oaths are sworn, sommat along those lines.

Daemonworld gives an excellent description of how following a single God will eventually lead to madness and destruction and that the only way to remain kinda sane is to worship the pantheon.
