Hey there,

as I just made a friggin long calculation in this post:http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/327020.page ;
I was confused about some of the imperial guard super heavy tanks - the Baneblade variants.

In Imperial Armour: Apokalypse 2008, it seems that Shadowsword, Stormsword and Stormblade lost their options for additional side sponsons... however I've some datasheets from the GW site that clearly states they still have those options. They had them in the free PDF update for Imperial Armour volume 1.

In Imperial Armour: Apokalypse 2, all other Baneblade variants still have the same options as the datasheets GW released for those tanks.
What do you think?

Also, in Imperial Armour Apokalypse 2, There is a Hell Raker Assault Battery, which consists of a couple of minotaurs and a single super heavy command tank, either a Baneblade or a Stormlord(which is listed in the same Book). BUT the command tank has to purchase the ability "Command Tank". A Baneblade can, for 25 Points. Most other Baneblade Chassis can purchase this upgrade too, the Banesword, the Stormblade, the Stormsword, the Shadowsword, the Baneblade and the Hellhammer CAN. But not the Stormlord (together with Doomhammer & Banehammer, essentially the Superheavy - Tanks with Transport capacity can't.).
What is a solution? Let the Stormlord buy the "forbidden" ability for 25 points, or ignore the Restriction in the Entry of the Hell Raker battery?

Well, the limitation on the Hellraker was probably placed there for fluff reasons, but ultimately Apocalypse is meant to be an open ended 'have fun' kind of game, and the rules are really more like guidelines, so its whatever you and your group decide.

As for the variants w/ the sponson options, use whichever version of the rules you like best.

IA1 is the current up-to-date rules for the superheavies. Check the list at the back of IA:A2 - that's the must recent list of which rules are current.

Re Hell Raker, surely the solution is to have one of the tanks that's allowed to purchase the command tank ability to be the command tank?

Actually, BOTH Versions are listed there... so I assume you may pick the one you like most. As the IA 1 - Tanks have no disadvantage over the Apocalypse Tanks, additional Side sponsons are ON!

They're all in IA1 and they're also scattered across various other books.

IA Apoc, where the sponsons were removed is not listed as a current source.

IA: Apoc came out well before the variants were released in plastic, which is when the GW PDFs were released (about a year or so later?).

So yes, just ignore IA: Apoc for almost everything.

I believe the IA1 that Scott is talking about is this one.

That is the direct link to Forge Worlds Downloads page, and is the "Update" for IA 1; released after the new IG Codex came out so we could actually take upgrades on Tanks, and have the correct rules.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.
