I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but I wasn't able to find it by doing a search. Does anyone have a decent technique for painting battle damage(such as armour chips, scratches, wear and tear, etc...) on power armor? I'm painting a white space marine army, and have been able to get a nice clean white on it (no pics up for my newer white models yet). Now I'm just curious as how to make it look battle damaged.

The traditional way, which I must confess I have never tried... is to paint a long black patch, think of a stretched oval or whatever and then paint an uneven metallic scratch inside that.

Not sure if I've described that well, but meh.

Henners has it right, however with white armor, I might go with a lighter grey, than your typical black, since it might look to start against white armor.

I have used dark browns as the initial patch also, and they look nice.

Support bacteria. It's the only culture some people have.
