I'm thinking of doing some pre heresy era thousand sons and was not sure exactly what rules to use. I can't seem to choose between csm codex, vanilla sm codex or gk codex. Could someone help me.

We are making some Prehersey stuff. But all you have to factor in is the fact of the flesh change.

There was a similar thread recently,
Ironically, Space Wolves seem to be the best representation, considering their preference of avoiding close combat, low numbers and ability to field four very powerful Psykers.

Outside of this, I'd recommend the CSM Codex or even the Space Marine Codex.

For now at-least, I doubt GK's will work.

I guess, you could even use the Blood Angel Codex, the Black Rage/Red Thirst could represent the Flesh Change (MotW could also), they have some powerful Psykers, Mephiston could even be Magnus, Sanguinary Priests could represent Sorcerers (Kyne barriers etc.) and other things. The problem here is the fast vehicles and preference for CC.

Overall, I'd have to sadly and ironically suggest the SW Codex.

So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Thanks for the replys. I'm not making them right now (too much painting to do already) but I was thinking by the time the next Gk codex is out it might work. I was just wondering if the grey knight would work rules wise generally so for example nemesis force weapons being their glaives. Keep the good answers coming please.

I think you should go Blood angels as death company could represent the flesh changed.

I'm new to the thousand sons, what is the 'flesh change' is that those mutations the sorcerers went under

Basically. It affected the whole Legion, particularly early Crusade and during the Heresy.
