Today some one told me that you do not get +1 attack for having 2 close combat weapons while on a bike (a reaver jetbike in this case) because you need one hand to operate the bike but i could not find this rule in the rule book, is this true?

There is no such rule in the current edition.

It might have been before though.

You do get the +1. EX. Kor'Sarro Khan while riding Moondrakken has base 3 attacks. Plus one for a Powersword (Moonsong) and a bolt pistol. Total of 4 regularly and 5 on the charge. As unlikely as it is that one would be able to drive a futuristic super bike while wielding not only a sword in one hand but a bolt pistol in the other, one still can when one has no rules that sayeth otherwise.

Basically you get the additional attack, unless your war gear is like a Space Marine Bikers, in which case your only war gear is a Space Marine Bike, Power Armour, Bolt Pistol and Frag and Krak Grenades.

Where others fail, the BOOM Brigade shall prevail.

Bikes have auto pilot a la Judge Dredd or can steer their mount using their knees. Nowhere in the rules does it state one hand is needed to steer the bike.

This used to be a specific rule in each codex, e.g. Chaos 3.5ed codex prohibited getting the extra attack, but gave you Spiky Bits to make up for it.

No such general rule exists, so if it doesnt say it in your codex it doesnt apply.

I'm backing up everyone else, there is nothing anywhere that you can't claim that attack so your friend probably had a nasty case of interpreting something wrong.

97% of people have useless and blatantly false statistics in their sigs, if you are one of the 8% who doesn't, paste this in your sig to show just what a rebel you are!

Only Chaos Bikes in Codex 3.5 had this limitation...

Hint: you get off the bike when fighting in melee.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

From a fluff standpoint, this may be the case, but not necessarily! Biking with no hands is not as difficult as it sounds. Now, smacking someone with a sword and firing a small armor-piercing rocket-propelled grenade launcher whilst biking nohandedly would be decidedly more difficult, but these are super-soldiers we're talking about. It's not outside of their capabilities. In the case of Space Marines, they're just that good. In the case of Orks, they're just that goddamn insane.

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

Actually, that might have been the case with the old Dark Eldar codex... But I can't think of a single codex that denies you the use of 2CCWs in current bike rules.
