Now, I like the looks of this hobby, and it looks cool, and I love the background, but I just cannot start! I've thought of color scheme after color scheme and I can't decide the color for my nids. I want to paint and do this hobby, But I'm sort of a perfectionist. I wont start something until I am sure or know it is right. I mean, I started New Vegas over 3 times because I couldn't decide which perks to get. I have a feeling if I get really into the army, I might not like the color scheme anymore, but how will I start over? I just want some advice for this predicament...

Brake fluid. or Lysol. I forget which one melts the model and which one doesn't.

I know Moonshine strips paint without harming the Plastic model though.

test your paint scheme out on some grunts and remember that you are going to be painting alot of minis for your army in whatever scheme your choose so make sure its simple and uses colors that are easy to paint.

For nids you usually only need about 3 colors and this is a good thing since over complicated models with 8 million diffrent colors look like clowns

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

There some good sites to plan a tyranids paint scheme, forget what it is though. Just google it.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Try to use Black or White as one of the colors. This way you can recycle the basecoat to help you.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

You can find some army painters online to test schemes out. Most important thing though is to just have fun with it and if it bothers you later repaintI've done it 3 times with my guard.

Buy a box of your army choice, and pick up a Reaper "Learn to Paint." Paint up each one in each style you think you may want, then go with your choice..

Okay, you have Tyranids. You mentioned video games. Do you have a half decent PC?

If you do, you have your Tyranid scheme test right there. Go grab a copy of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2. In skirmish, you can 'paint' your army. This lets you select from pretty much every GW paint for the primary, secondary and I believe tertiary colours. it will give you a really good, overall idea of what the army will look like in your chosen colours.

It's also a fantastic game to boot.

Paint each squad in your army a different color scheme, there is no rule that says all of your 'nids have to be painted the same. Fluff wise you can say that it is a hive fleet that ate a few other hive fleets and ended up being a mix of different looking 'nids. Also this will help you remember which guant is in which squad.
