Is there a difference between the DA upgrade Sprue and the Veteran's boxset?

I was just wondering since the Veteran's Boxset seem to be a tad bit cheaper than the upgrade set (well, marginally) and it seems to come with more stuff. However looking at the actual Veteran's Sprue, isnt it the exact same as the Upgrade one? I was just wondering because I want to add a unit of Fallen (counts as Chosen) to my CSM army and I wanna combine the DA parts with CSM parts.

i believe the upgrade sprue is two of the veteran sprues and nothing else (i'm not even sure it even comes with bases for the models as they're just upgrades technically). the veteran box comes with bases as well as a tactical squad upgrade sprue and a veteran sprue. if you've already got the bases and weapons you'll need for the fallen/chosen, go with the upgrade. if you need to make a unit completely from scratch, go with the vets since you'll get the heavy/special weapons you might want.

Two of the vet sprues will make 10 complete veterans without bases or any additional parts. There are apparently 5 bodies on the Vet sprue with accompanying backpacks, heads and chests. I'm kinda skeptical that they would give such a substantial amount of marines away for almost 2/3 of the cost of normal tacticals. =x

There are 10 veterans + deathwing terminator upgrades in the chapter upgrade pack, and only 5 veterans in the actual veteran pack. Why GW is doing this, I honestly don't know, because you are getting more than double the stuff for less. The only thing that irritated me with the chapter upgrade was the lack of bolt pistol/chainswords (there were none). They give you bolters, power fists, power swords, storm shields, combat shields, but no bolt pistols or chainswords. Honestly if you're looking for bang/buck, the chapter upgrade is where it's at, especially since you can run 10 man veteran squads. You can also just get it to make robes sergeants or marines.

Yup, 2 storm bolters, 2 legs, 2 assault cannons, 2 sets of shoulder pads, 2 storm shields, 2 terminator power swords (and 2 normal power swords). It's pretty much the ultimate bang/buck

god I wish I knew this before I started my AoBR Librarian and Chaplain conversions. I might end up doing an entire Fallen warband just for the hell of it since the minis are so damn cheap (a CSM battleforce + 1 box of upgrades can yield 25 fallen, 8 berserkers and 5 possessed. Add a Dev squad to that and I'll have 30 marines with a rhino. I'm also set with Cypher as their commander, although not using the CSM rules for them).
