Me and my friends will be having an 1850 point tournament. I can expect to play chaos, eldar, imperial guard, tau and vanilla marines. I have had success before using 6-9 broadsides and a few suits but I want to try fielding a full 15. The troops will stay off of the board until turn 5, by which time I can hopefully kill everything that would threaten them.

There is 25 points spare. Should I try to find points for a pathfinder team? What should I drop if I do? Should I keep the Broadsides split or put them together? I think pathfinders would really benefit the list but I'm reluctant to drop suits. Should I take Fusion-Pirahnas? I could concievably drop one broadside and find the points for a pair, and kill-points wise could even afford to take them seperately. Play-style wise I generally try not to take all the objectives but simply aim to hold one more than the opponent and usually have enough units scattered around to contest others.

C & C appreciated,

Guy

Crisis suit teams look okay. I like all your elite slot teams, but I don't like your HQ as much.

I prefer keeping my suit teams the same, and themed. I would get rid of the CIB, AFP, and flamers for your HQ, and give them all either MPs or FBs.

I would highly suggest getting a pathfinder team, it will make everything else so much more effective.

If you drop anything, I would drop the kroot and a gryoside team.

Whichever they are, I'm not on the Reich ones, clearly.

Looks like a good Ninja list, but I've limited experience with them.

Tbh, its not really meant to be a Ninja list. I would start off pretty much any objective game with 3 units in reserve (turn 2, 3 and 4) and then troops for turn 5. I've tried bringing on tiny units and then turn 4/5 getting everything and for me it just doesnt work - the units cost so many points you need them firing as much as possible! I'll try and work a pathfinder squad in there and repost. Also I have a question about the Helios team - I like to take advantage of wound allocation as well as the advantage of being able to remove suits with a slightly more specific purpose - should the 3rd helios drop the multi-tracker for a targeting array? or twinlink the fusion? I dont have a lot of anti-tank so I'm thinking if that unit shoots at a tank, I need it dead that turn.

I don't like the lack of ML support. I'm not a huge fan of the mixed BS in teams either but wioth no MLs that becomes a non-issue.

The HQs are a bit of a mess with the commander with non-compliamentry weaponry an no target lock to take advantage of it.

The Broadsides don't seem to suit the list at all I'd swap them for HHs. This list looks as though it would work better as a ninja list. Especially as you know one of your opponents is the quickest codex across the board in the game (Vanilla Marines).

With that many suits I'd get some heatwaves for AT especially as you're going for a ninja deployment type (as in Crisis teams and a large chunk of your army in reserve even if the whole army is not reserve). I'd consider having 2 teams of them and the rest Fireknife with a few specialist weapons on your commanders with target locks.

Also with your troops arriving on turn 5 how are you going to control ANY objectives in Seize ground? Likewise whhat rare you going to use to contest in capture and control. No mobility in your troops and turn 5 arrival just limits your options too much.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Thanks for all the comments, I'll post a revised list shortly.

Mixed BS is a pain when it comes to Mls fo' sure, but even in Mlful lists its useful to have a semi-reliable suit left standing when the pathfinders have been taken out. Good point about the CIB on the Firestorm unit - I figured it would be a good replacement burst cannon with a bit of help vs Terminators in a pinch, but thats somewhere to cut back on points. As for the Flamery command team, that build saved me a couple of times in a tournament last year, its just so good at taking objectives and controlling enemy squad movement. Picked up on it on the 'Xv8 Objective Assault' thread on ATT, I think written by Eigelpulper.

Very good point about troops arriving turn 5 - it depends how the battle goes and where the objectives are + forgot I'm not meching up. As for HHs instead of broadsides I think that could break the list tbh - the railgun efficiency is terrible, and the one thing the list lacks is a lot of anti-tank, and also just having probably 2 tanks would make them a magnet for everything with a melta. 3 + a pathfinder fish (+ pirahnas) would be decent, but I'd have so many fewer suits!

Thanks,

Guy
