So two of my big armies (Dark Eldar and Tyranids) both have poisoned attacks in many of their profiles. After going through some tactica and whatnot I've noticed that people often refer to re-rolls to wound. I was curious about this and tried flipping through my rulebook but haven't found anything on the matter.
Can anyone maybe enlighten me to what all this malarkey is?

Page 42, main rules. If the S score is equal to or higher than the T score, rerolls apply. Although, iirc, the DE ranged poison weapons are exempt (as mostly their s=x) Editing because I missed a phrase that mattered.

Poison weapons reroll if the S is equal or better than the T of the model being attacked.
DE never get this as their ranged weaponry is S:X

Ah, alright. I was wondering about the strength X because I know the changed the str of the Sterngaurd Vets hellfire rounds from X to 1 for reasons unknown to me. I figured maybe this would come up with the DE.

For the effects vs. vehicles, one would imagine. Also, unless the weapon's profile indicates Poisoned, it is not. Some weapons simply wound on a specific number like Hellfire rounds and Witchblades and do not benefit from the poison S vs. T re-roll.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Posion only gives rerolls in close combat.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor. |
