Nice batrep, -- what did you use to render the schematics of the battlefield?

Apologies if you've answered this before.

How do you put 9 sternguards in a razorback when it can only hold six models?

You can't don't know if that would made a big difference but you'd have to have a rhino or a tactical squad combat squaded to fit in there.

The battle report says he put 9 in there. Just saying.

I take an overhead shot of each terrain piece next to a tape measure then save it as a seperate layer in a Photoshop file. That way each game I can move them around to match the actual terrain set up. The background is just a picture of the table. I made the little force icons in Microsoft Visio and after importing the image of the finished batlefield that's what I use to diagram each turn.

He split his Sternguard squad into two combat squads which is why half of them ran up into the woods on turn 1 while the rest stayed behind. I added some text to the report to make this more obvious though. I'm not too hip to the Space Marine dex though. Is that not legal?

Yeah, a really nice battle report. Nicely painted minis as well. If I could offer a bit of advice...

- throw the demo charge AFTER you blow up the transport. With all the firepower you had, you could have easily popped the rhino and THEN demo charged the tightly packed dudes inside, rather than needing to hope your opponent fails a lot of armor saves.

- why all the focus on the devestators? With only a single lascannon and a single missile launcher, they were very unlikely to do much killing at all, while at the same time being difficult to claim a KP against with shooting. They should probably just have been ignored, and the firepower shot at something else.

- I'm sorry for how the assault on the left went. Why, oh why didn't you charge in your rough riders when the terminators were stuck in with the ogryn? The riders probably would have wiped the termies, saving you 3 whole kill points, while leaving you with more to clean up stuff at the end to net you a couple more? Rough riders are so cool - it was sad to see them just sort of sit around and then get charged. Also, as you noticed here, ogryn have a tough time staying on the table, even with stubborn. Perhaps consider a lord commissar?

Anyways, very nicely done report, and it looked like a fun game. Smack your opponent once for me for allowing STERNGUARD to get banewolfed.

Thanks, I've always admired your reports.

I also appreciate the advice on tactics but this was just a friendly game. Given the Scenario there was no reason for any of my units to have even moved until much later in the game. Probably charging his termys as they came out of the woods. As it was I couldn't believe the Ogryn passed so many Ld tests.

Black Dynamite must throw his Boomerang as soon as he enters the battle too. That can't be helped.
