I was wondering how well things like lascannon equipped space marines would fit in them, or if a terminator would fit at all.

A standard GW tray is 36 slots in 4 rows of 9.
These trays are 50 slots in 5 rows of 10.
The outside dimensions are the same.
So they have to be a bit smaller than the slots in a standard GW tray. Doubtful a terminator fits, and a lascannon is going to be too long.
Good for smaller models like skaven, dwarfs, guardsmen.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Those are for the GW cases not the BF ones, so are quite a bit smaller. BF's foam lets them have much thinner walls between each slot so they can squeeze more out of a tray, but even still each slot is going to be quite a bit smaller (particularly in height).
The general idea for Battlefoam trays are that they are designed to fit specific models in them, the foam is harder and more durable (etc etc) but aren't as forgiving as the really soft GW foam where you can have things hanging over the edges of each slot and it makes very little difference as the foam compresses around it. No way are Terminator would fit, they are on 40mm bases.

Yes, I own three of those for my Imperial guard. They are nice in that they fit so many models, but it is a tight fit even for my older, metal Valhallans which are very compact. Lascannons and termies will probably not work very well.

So I'll need the 40 model trays... which will probably just fit space wolves which appear to be rather tall, even for space marines.
Then I'll have to make decisions on terminators afterwards I thinks.
What about dire avengers the new ones, will they fit inthe 50 mdoel trays?

Speaking from experience Dire Avengers won't fit in the standard trays properly, they have extra tall headresses and their guns are much longer than bolters. There is however a specially designed Eldar tray for the purpose, 20 slots for Avengers and 20 for Guardians (who aren't as tall).
